I gave hair on my chest and I'm a girl?

I'm not super hairy, but I have a small amount of hair on my chest and stomach. I thought only guys could get this. I shave it and it always grows back. What is causing this and how do I get rid of it?

This is actually more common than you may think. Girls can have hairy knuckles, arms, facial hair, hair on the breasts around the nipples, and hair on the stomach. Although there are some medical conditions and disorders that can play a part in this, most likely it's just that you have more male hormones, androgens, including testosterone or extra-sensitivity to the presence of male hormones. Testosterone, in particular, is responsible for stimulating the hair follicle to grow hair that is darkly pigmented. Girls often hear this and think, but I don't have male hormones, but surprise, yes you do. Both men and women have both estrogen and testosterone in their system but during puberty, the effects of the one tend to take over, above the other which is when we get our attributes, however if the male or female hormone is more prevalent in you, you can still see effects of it normally attributed to the opposite sex. Again, don't worry about it. You can continue to shave, wax, bleach, whatever, but also to accept it and don't focus too much on it. Most guys, if that's what you're worried about, won't even notice unless you constantly point it out to them.

It is not weird or abnormal. It is genetics. I also have hair on my stomach. Do not shave it. That makes it worse. I used to obsess over it. I bleached it with Sally Hansen's hair bleach, but it was still visible. I finally just embraced it. No guy has ever had a problem with it. My current boyfriend said he never even noticed it. I was totally surprised. The thing is, we notice and obsess over things about ourselves that others just don't notice. We drive ourselves crazy over it for no reason. Put down the razor. I am sure it really isn't as bad as you believe it to be.

Everyone has hair on their chest. It is just usually much thinner and lighter in women than in men. It is perfectly normal to have it, I say as long as it is not overly thick or dark you don't need to worry about it at all. If you really want to remove it here are some options.

Shaving: cheap, quick, easy... but it kind of "sharpens" the tips making it feel more course

Waxing; gives you a much smoother skin, lasts for a few weeks, hurts like hell, can be expensive or messy depending on where you do it

Cream (Nair); DO NOT! use this around your nipples... trust me.

Laser removal; can be really expensive, feels like a bad sunburn, need to take extra care of your skin for a while, but lasts a whole hell of a lot longer and is actually permanent in most situations.

I know they also have hair removal lasers you can buy for your own use at home but they will set you back a few hundred bucks and I don't know much about them.

We are all hairy as shit, men just show it more because our hairs are way way WAY darker and thicker then most women, most women have REALLY thin and light color hair really soft and short hair, so yea you have hair in your chest and stomach, nothing you should be feel scare or embarrassed about, but given that you are a woman you may want to wear cloths that show cleavage or your bellybutton from time to time or a bikini in the pool or beach, if this is the case you can do what 60-70% of people do and shave it, wax it or even have it removed with lasers

It's not abnormal or embarrassing. It is most likely genetic. What is your ethnicity?

I know plenty of women with the same problem, they just wax it off.

That's super normal. Every human is covered in hair. Some of it happens to be dark.

Well did you know some women have an adams apple like men do so a little hair on your chest i'm sure can be covered or removed.

Actually all women have an Adam's apple, it just tends to be more pronounced on men.
