Is 25 too early to get a colonoscopy?

Colon cancer runs in my family and if I end up getting it, I want to catch it as soon as possible because I have known way too many people who have passed from it. Is 25 too young to get one? They always recommend it for 50 and up but my mom had stage 3 colon cancer in her 40's which means she must have had it for a good amount of time. Thanks.

I don't think it's ever (don't take ever to the extremes please) too early to get a colonoscopy. They do recommend 50 but that's only because most people wouldn't get one at all if they didn't do so, and 50 is a common age for cancer. Basically they recommend it to those who don't worry about cancer, not those who have it running in the family.
I would highly suggest you go through with it, because it is always better to be safe than sorry.

If your doctor feels you're at enough of a risk, they'll order one. I'm not a doctor so I don't feel comfortable guessing.

You should eat more organic food to stay healthy. Cut down on sugar, because cancer loves sugar. Also you can try eating a couple of apricot seeds every day, if you've heard of B17.

No it's not really a age requirement. It's just a camera up the backside.

Insurance companies might have requirements for it though.

No, especially if it runs in your family. I would definitely say if you have a doctor let them know and schedule an appointment. I don't think there's any harm in going, even at a young age.
