Bladder Infections are serious, so how do you treat them after going to the doctor?

So I recently went to the doctor and my doctor said she thinks I have a bladder infection. My doctor won't get the results back from the lab for a week or more. How do I deal with the the pain until then?

Woah, ONE WEEK? I always got my results within 5-15mins! You should go to another doctor which has a lab and can tell you the results immediately.
Untreated bladder infections can turn out badly and you could get pyelonephritis.

If you really can't go to another doctor then you should drink lots of water, urinate frequently (NEVER hold your pee for a long while), use a heating pad, drink cranberry juice and wear loose clothing.

I hope you feel better soon, bladder infections are the worst :/

I agree with @SolitaireBond lab results for a bladder infection take like 20 minutes. Can you go somewhere else? Even your gynecologist will see you like THAT DAY if they think you may have a bladder infection.

A week or more? WTF? My doctor can have most lab results within 24 hours. Usually a doctor will prescribe an antibiotic immediately to symptomatically treat it if there is reasonable suspicion of an infection. But it sounds like she might be trying to determine what type of infection you may have to know which medication would provide the most appropriate treatment. If you're in pain, call the doctor back and let them know you need their advice.

With any UTI the first thing a Doctor/GP should prescribe is an antibiotic to kill off the infection.. It should never, ever take a week to get "results" .. Why not try and get a second opinion ASAP.

if there is an infection then mainly you re gonna have antibiotics no?

I've had one, midol like for cramps actually helps loads!
