I would say
3oz of chicken breast,
1cup of veggies
Is considered a small meal...
The. Later on that same day you can have
3oz ground turkey and
3oz sweet potatoes
That would be another small meal...
Then
3oz red meat with
1/2 cup of brown rice
That would be another small meal..
And so on.. Etc.. Etc...
If you're. A girl.. Stick with 3oz of the type of meat you're having per every meal...
If you're. A guy.. Make it 6oz of the type of meat you're having per every meal...
And I personally think 6 meals is ideal...

Yay, I am glad to see someone doing some research on how to lose weight in a healthy way! Eat around 300 calories per meal and you should do mostly cardio to lose weight. You can do muscle toning if you'd like but after a while that will make you gain weight (but it'll be weight in muscle rather than fat).
If you were going to eat "5-7 meals a day", and keep it at 1200 calories, that would be 240 (a small container of cottage cheese, or a couple pieces of fruit, for instance) to 170 (half a sandwich [depending on what you put on it], or a piece of fruit, or something) calories

You should eat a little more, because in this way your body will go in starving mode, which is not good.
And yes, building muscles burns fat.A cracker and water that's a small meal to me
