How can I get rid the fat on my stomach? PLEASE HELP!!!

OK so my upper body and lower body are toned from swimming and playing soccer all my life. But I have a HUGE gut. I have no idea why I have it, yea I haven't always eaten the way I should have but I have been active my entire life. But now I am getting ready to graduate high school so I'm done playing soccer and swimming. So I would really like to lose this nasty gut before I go to college. Any tips on what is the best way to do it? Obviously I know to work out and eat right but what kind of workout is best? Also what foods should I avoid? I know this question probably sounds stupid coming from an athlete, but I've never had to work out in a gym, so I don't really know how to. So anyway, please help! I've only got like 4 months before I go away to school and I really want to lose it. Its really stopping me from having a boyfriend for obvious reasons...

p.s I'm not kidding when I say I have a huge gut...Its like 30 pounds sitting on my stomach.
