Oh no! You don't have dry socket do you? I went through that and it is BRUTAL!
My advice, suck on ice! This seriously works. If it is bugging your tooth though, stop. But the coolness might help. If the ice is in fact too much in your mouth, put a cool compress on the side that is hurting. This will help alleviate the pain.
Take a tylenol or ibuprofen to help with the pain as well. If the pain is that bad, then it's okay to take those things. I don't like taking them either. But you need to sleep, concentrate and function for this week until the infection is gone.
Also, try a salt water rinse. Like a saline solution. I would check out the pharmacy and see if they have anything. But you can make this at home with table salt. Just boil water and put in some salt. The ratio should be this: For every 1 cup of water, add a 1/2 tsp of salt.
Let it cool and then when it's cool you can put it in a cup and swish it around your mouth. It will help sooth your aching and help gently keep your mouth clean.
Whatever you do, do not use mouthwash! It will be too strong and might make the infection worse. But a saline solution should be perfectly fine. I had to do this when I had my wisdom teeth removed.
Lastly, do not over exert yourself this week. Don't lift heavy things and make sure to rest as much as you can. Tooth infections can be really nasty, and the last thing you want to do is prevent healing by over doing it. Once the infection is gone you will start to feel better and then you can go back to normal activities!

Get it fixed ASAP: antibiotics are too precious to waste on toothaches and will only delay the inevitable anyway. Until you get it fixed you can use mouthwash to and water to keep your mouth relatively clean and take aspirin to manage the pain.

Tylenol was the only thing that worked for me for tooth pain. Try cutting one of those 500mg pills in half, wet the exposed inside, and rub it on the tooth and gum where it hurts. Then take the pill. That should help. Make sure it is the right dose for your weight first though.
Not sure if I'm spelling this right but oragel it's a kind of numbing agent that you put on your teeth/gums it pretty much completely numbs them. Tylenol and Aspirin also work to.
Try putting an aspirin on the gum line of the tooth and letting it sit there. This worked once for me. You can also take two aspirin and two ibuprofen at the same time. Two different compounds.
Ibprophen has anti swelling properties. Ask the dentist for something stronger if that doesn't work.
Sorry, but nothing really works. A strong pain killer of a narcotic type, but that ain't happening, call your dentist and tell him your in serious pain.
