Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI am one of those girls. I stress about my weight because my older sister is a dress size below me so in my head i am always comparing us. Another reason is my influence , i gain and loose weight with out noticing, often others tell me you have gained or lost weight. I never loose enough to be model thin but never gain enough to be over weight. I am always thinking about my weight because the people closest to me always seem to think about it when i see them.

+1 y1. They have been told they could lose a few more pounds and could use some validation from others that they don't
2. They actually feel that way
3. It just seems like only thin people say it because very, very few overweight people would. If an overweight person said "I could stand to lose a few" it seems to open the floodgates for so many people to pass judgement and start giving advice on exactly how much they should lose10 Reply
It makes sense dontcha think?
If I weigh 300 pounds, taking 10 off isn't going to change much.
If I weight a healthy 180, taking 10 off might dip me below healthy.
There's a bit of range management to factor in. As well as the detail that if they are a good weight, then they probably worry about their weight more than someone who is overweight. Not to mention potential vanity.01 Reply- +1 y
It doesn't make sense to me. It would only make sense if they have an eating disorder. It's all well and good if a thin girl wants to tone up or just likes health and exercise, but constantly talking about being too fat when mthey are healthy or underweight is ridiculous in my opinion.

+1 yGood observation. I think , that they know the benefits of being fit and healthy. And they want to look beautiful.

I'm not talking about the girls who love health and exercise. I'm speaking very generally about thin girls who only complain and constantly ask if they're too fat.

They don't know the difference between being thin , normal and fat. BMI below 18.5 is under weight. But Models have a BMI between 15 to 16. The normal BMI is between 18.5 to 29.9. But Adrian Lima is at 17.6 , Candice Swanepoel is at 17.7 , Alessandro Ambrossio is at 16.3. They are all clinically underweight. Some Doctors say BMI of 17.5 is Anorexic (with severe health deficiency). Models are usually underweight in real life. Their bras are padded 2 sizes higher to deceive viewers to think they are normal weight , because breasts indicate larger fat distribution. And the make up makes their faces to look round to have a healthy appearance. This RIPPLE EFFECT makes women believe that thin is beautiful. But they don't understand that their health is put in danger because of this misconception. Models pose in a way that makes them feel more curvy. But on closer look , their ribs show too much , their arms are slightly angled , , thighs are not strong and their elbows are too sharp.

That's very true.

+1 yIt might be for attention. Someone who is clearly overweight most likely won't complain about it because they know they are overweight and don't need anyone to remind them. Someone who isn't probably just wants to hear people say that they aren't.. they already know they're not unless they have an eating disorder.

+1 yBecause deep down they know they are closer to being perfect than the fat girls, so any flaw they have becomes more easily noticeable and "less forgiven."

So you're saying that because they think they get looked at more, it raises their insecurity?
- +1 y
Generally, yes.
- +1 y
At least that's my opinion. I mean, they have a greater pressure to look better. Someone who already looks bad can have teh "eh... not like I can get any worse so no need to worry" mentality.
- +1 y
Eh, it could be the case but a bigger person could look good and have that same insecurity and it would be valid. Fat doesn't necessarily always mean unattractive. Thank you for sharing your opinion.

You're welcome. Have a nice day.

You too.

*less forgiveable

Yeah!! I've seen it so many times & it seriously pisses me off
- +1 y
Same, especially because I'm a bigger girl who actually is going through the process of bettering my health.
- +1 y
Ohh sorry to hear that 😕 I wish you the best & please take care of yourself, not just physically but emotionally too
- +1 y
Thank you. I appreciate that.

Sure 😄😄
+1 yRIGHT? I once muttered to myself 'I need to gain weight' and someone said 'You can have mine'. Noooooo, I'm trying to get to your weight... your perfectly fine.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yHonestly I think it is because the more thick ones have a harder time admitting that their lifestyle is unhealthy and/or motivating themselves to make a change. Obviously that change being further away might deter some.

+1 yBecause they think being more and more thinner will somehow make them more attractive even though it doesn't.

+1 ybe cause they feel as though they got standards they got to live up to and feel more attractive that way

+1 ywhy is it that you assume one has to be stagnant in their aspiration to improve, just cause you assume they are good as they are?
03 Reply- +1 y
I'm asking very generally. They very well may or may not have a valid reason as to why they do something like that but that reason may or may not be healthy mentally, physically, or both. So I pose this question to you, why do you assume that their aspiration to improve is overall positive progress for the sake of their mental and/or physical health?
- +1 y
I'm not judging. It's not my body or my decision :D
- +1 y
Fair enough.
Just girls mindset hahaha. Girls are sensitive to how they look.

+1 yYeah it's called "Attention Seeking" behavior possible Bipolar disorder.
03 Reply- +1 y
Bipolar disorder has more to do with bouts of mania and depression. However they could want to seek attention during a fit of mania or depression. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

A matter of personal preference. I look better with a skinny body.

+1 ybecause fatties are in the denial phase.
07 Reply- +1 y
So what does that have to do with this question? Can you elaborate on that thought?
- +1 y
Fatties dont realize yet they have to lose weight.
- +1 y
Okay. I get that's your opinion on fat people, but what does that have to do with skinny girls insisting that they're fat?
- +1 y
They want to get fit maybe?
- +1 y
The point of the question is that thin girls who are often a healthy weight or even underweight call themselves fat and truly believe it. It has nothing to do with toning up or getting fit, they want to get as skinny as possible. So why do you think girls like that do that?
- +1 y
Thats very unhealthy. They need a doctor.
- +1 y
Okay. Thanks for sharing your opinion.
