I lost over 120 pounds doing a mix of cardio, strength training, weight lifting and core exercises like sit-ups, leg raises ect. For losing fat cardio is the best, but that won't tone you up so you may wnat to do some weight lifting or strength training also.
As for pills they are bs in my book. Even if they do help short term the side effects can be devastating to your body. Its best to IMO to lose it naturally with diet and exercise.

Weight training doesn't get rid of fat, but builds muscle, which adds overall weight. The best thing to do is do some running, sit-ups, crunches, continue to work out, as muscle building is good.
There aren't any real pills that help you lose weight, they are only placebos that attempt a mind-over-matter method. Everything worth having, is worth working for. Stay strong, continue working and you'll look and feel healthy.
