Some of it is genetics I think. It depends on where your body is most likely to store fat, which varies from person to person. And some people are naturally a bit skinnier and can eat junk food but still stay skinny. I'm naturally skinny, I've been this way since I stopped growing as a teen. My stomach has always been flat regardless of what I eat.
But a lot of it has to do with diet if you're not naturally skinny. So eat healthy, home cooked meals. Stay away from processed foods and foods that contain lots of sugar. And even by doing some minor adjustments in your life you could "work out" without working out. Such as by taking the stairs instead of the elevator, not driving or taking the bus everywhere but actually walking as much as possible etc.
Also I think everyone should work out, even if just a little. I work out twice a week and I've seen some really good improvements in terms of flexibility and stamina. You don't have to be at the gym 24/7 to see improvements. Even by only working out once or twice a week for a couple of hours can make a difference, and not just a physical one but a mental one too.

Genetics. You either have it or you don't. And you have to eat healthier. None of that DD and McDonalds junk crap. However, if it's not affecting your health, don't worry about it. Plus, if you try doing that then you can be putting your health in jeopardy. Don't do it if you don't have to. Being slim isn't everything. I'm naturally slim, petite etc. It's a major struggle just to try to gain weight alone. If you don't try to up it up, have a highly caloric diet, exercise, etc, and go too low below the underweight line, then you will struggle to pick it up. Only do so if it will make you healthy.
If you are very skinny then yes. Though working out is far more healthy then starving yourself :P

Genetics are such a big part of your body stores fat and the shape of your body and some people going to work out till the cows come home and they're never going to have a completely flat stomach and then there's others who have a metabolism that mimics a hummingbird when they can do whatever the heck they want and they don't gain an ounce the only thing I would say is don't starve yourself because fat skinny is gross looking you know when a girl is skinny just because she is malnutritioned like her legs are pencil rods but somehow she still has cellulite that's just not attractive at all so hitting the gym is never a bad idea it can only do good
You don't get a flat stomach by just doings abs. Abs purely show based on body fat percentage and ab workouts actually burn really low calories. You can work out abs all you want but if you're fat they'll never show. Now when you loose that body fat and the ab muscles show your stomach will look better because now you have lost body fat and gained some ab muscle. To reduce fat you must burn more calories than coming in. I recommend counting calories, eating lean, running, and doing ab work outs to have a nice flat stomach.

I know you want to avoid working out and you need to do ab workouts to tone up. You can't target fat. The only thing you can do is eat clean and cut calories. Working out does help with keeping your shape though. Try 30 mins on a rowing machine. It works the abs with proper form, but it also tones up your arms, back, thighs, and butt. Squats can make your booty nice and round too. Try doing goblet squats with a kettlebell. Very easy workouts that don't take a lot of time and don't burn too much calories or else it will just boost your appetite.
Nope, you can become slim if you have a proper diet, but the changes of you getting a perfectly flat stomach are very small unless you have it genetically, the reason is because 1. You probably have a interior pelvic tilt and you stomach will always be bulging out a little because of it no matter how slim you are and it can only be fixed with proper exercise.
2. Doesn't matter how good your diet is you will always have fat deposition on your sides, it is called love handle, and the fat deposition is not because of your eating habits but because of stress hormones and some other hormones, it's very difficult to get rid of them and only exercise can help you with that.
That being said you can still get in a very nice shape with a proper diet and a 15-20 min home work out without any equipment, but if you want a really toned body with perfect flat stomach you will have to do a real workout.Dancing tones your body try belly dancing or something like that waist trainers and corsets also snatch your waist but you have to wear them regularly for a long time for them to permanently make your waist cinched.
That's because ab excercises don't make your stomach flat, diet does. aka, losing body fat. I mean, yeah, part of it is also having it tone inwards, but that's more related to the inner muscles. Look up stomach vacuums. That's what helps keep it tighter, while diet trims down bodyfat.

I see way too many people focusing on these, only to make their waists bulkier (even if it's muscle).Yes, you can try yoga but, you'll probably won't. Good genes and your 16 that has a lot to do with it. I do yoga on a 6 days I run yoga classes. Plus they say a skinny girl looks good with clothes on a fit girl looks good naked.

It will be flat if you just achieve it by diet BUT you will also use up muscle. A fun way to keep your stomach flat is by belly dancing.

Honestly, you get more bang from tight diet control and 2 to 3 minutes of intervals twice a week than a shitload of cardio.
I dont like flat stomach but chubby-flat one specially below navel, just be yourself and if u dont think its worth it actually isn't.
