I like this guy but not sure if he likes me?

So I met this guy a few years ago and we became "friends with benefits" things were fine as neither of us wanted any sort of commitment and than a year into it I started to develop feelings for him. When I decided to tell him about it he told me didn't want a relationship and he stopped calling. I got over him after a few weeks and didn't hear from him up until this year. He started texting me all the time about how he was sorry he hurt me, how he wanted things to go back to the way they were, and how he wanted to make it up to me. I decided to go back down the road with him and kept my feelings hidden. He started coming by again and the things he was saying were confusing me as to what he actually wanted.

I guess my question is he a player? Is he saying things I want to hear so I won't date anyone else? Or is he scared to commit to a relationship?

Ooh, that's a crappy spot to be in :( You poor thing. Well, my instincts say that yes, he's a player. But really, that doesn't matter here. What matters is that you're in a bad situation and you need to either get over your feelings or get out of what you guys got going on for the sake of your own emotional health here sweetie. I'm sorry, I know that's harsh, but that's just the bottom line. I absolutely would not have gotten back together with him unless it was going to be an actual relationship..."go back to way they were" isn't good enough...your heart deserves more. My heart totally goes out to you sweetie.
