Blood when brushing teeth?

ok before I explain, yes, I'm gross. you don't have to tell me, I get it lol

so I like, haven't brushed my teeth in forever. don't worry my breath never stinks or anything cause I'm a CONSTANT gum chewer (sugar free, the kind that's good for your teeth) but still, like you need to f***ing brush your teeth, I know that. I went through this serious depression and had a whole hygiene thing that was just not so great and I never got back into the habit of brushing really ever. so anyway I was like okay it's time that I really need to start again cause that's kind of gross. my teeth are relatively white and my gums are a normal pink my mouth doesn't look funny or anything but when I brushed my teeth I was legit spitting straight up blood. I mean we're not talking pink toothpaste, I mean RED. I'm a little worried, should I be scared? will this go away if I just keep up better care of my teeth from now on?

update! I was brushing today and there was only a slight trace of blood but not even NEAR what it was yesterday so that's a really good sign :) plus just a fun fact, I've never had a cavity.

It could be gum disease (gingivitis) but don't get freaked out. Mine do the same thing from time to time.. If you start flossing REGULARLY (by that I mean twice a day at least) and make sure you are flossing correctly. Don't just go up and down with the floss, make sure try try to go up as far as you can without cutting your gum and go in a kinda circular motion so as to pull food out. Also use a mouthwash like Listerine. And most of all start brushing! Don't wait til it's too late and your teeth start falling out. Start brushing now and don't give up. Take very good care of your teeth starting now and you will thank yourself so much later when your teeth and gums are healthy again.

I think you have a good chance of getting your gums back in shape if you start taking the proper measurements right now and don't slack off. Keep up with them, and don't forget to floss.

First of all do make sure you brush your teeth at least twice a day. Also you may be pushing too hard with your toothbrush especially if its not an electric one. Electric ones are generally better as all you have to do is guide them around your teeth and gums. Smoking can also make your gums bleed, I noticed then when I was still smoking, I was literally gobbing out huge wads of blood.

Corsodyl mouthwash can help with this, but don't use right after you've cleaned your teeth as not only will it stain them a yukky brown colour but also it won't work as effectively. Use it for about a week or so and you should notice a reduction in how much your gums bleed.

When you don't brush your teeth your gums become overgrown. That bleeding won't last. Just keep brushing and your gums will hopefully get back to normal. They can overgrow so much that they need to be cut though. So you might need to get your teeth checked. And make sure to floss.

My teeth (by appearance) look great, so I'm pretty sure as far as the overgrowing thing goes I don't need any cutting anytime soon lol

Too long. I mean I would but it was super erratic. like once a month or something stupid like that where it doesn't even count.

Well it's not that big of a deal, but you might have some gingivitis or brushing to hard. Since you haven't brushed your teeth in a long time, you should go to the dentist, to get them cleaned and checked for cavities.

you have gingivitis...go to the dentist asap...but in the mean time brush your teeth,floss,and gargle with salt water twice a day..the salt water helps to stregthen gums and helps with the infection...its important to take care of your teeth so they won't fall out

I don't have the money nor the time to see a dentist and like I don't have any kind of pain or swelling or anything like that at all so whatever it is it can't be super severe right? I'll definitely try the salt water though

Well if there's no pain or swelling them I'm sure your fine...just for the next couple of weeks try using the salt water and flossing ,brushing your teeth and I'm sure you'll be just fine

Well I was googling it and this is like, the definition of gingivitis. and I did the exact thing you have to do to get gingivitis. I mean sh*t, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck... it's probably a duck.

it's normal. your gums are sensitive from not brushing. it will stop bleeding as you brush more regularly.

You should brush your teeth twice a day, how can you not brush them with all that sh*t that builds up, once they fall out you will regret not taking more care of them cause they won't grow back

You could be brushing too hard or have receding gums-my sister does.

brush on a reg basis. and make sure your gums stay that bubblegum pink color. if they're red or inflamed it could be gingivitis which can be pretty bad if not taken care of.
