Still trying to lose weight - tips to lose 15 pounds?

If I ate around 1,000 calories at most and ran a mile each day, how quickly would I lose the 15 pounds? Any dieting tips? I know a lot already.

I'm finally starting school next month so I'll have access to my school's gym and my sister's. :) Can't wait! Have any tips for machines or exercises to tone up and get lean muscle?
