I'm sorry to hear it. Shitty about today's appointment but how about the next appointment? Time to book it in with someone you will be comfortable with?
@JayParris I'm not sure about the stats, but when I first started going to a gynecologist, I searched through the list by a hospital nearby and it was 90% men and only 2 women. My friend also told me about the hospital nearby her also mostly has male gynecologists. Always found it strange, I always thought there would be more women in this field.
I was under the same impression, but the statistics say 85% of gynecologists are women. I remember my ex saying how hard it was to find a female ob/gyn.
So how is it common sense that most ob/gyn are female? A doctor is a doctor. What specialty they go into is usually determined by their skill and where they can make the most money.
I don't think it's wrong. In the medical field you have deal with people of the opposite gender. It's just a job. My mom , sisters and sister-in-law all have male gynecologist and they have no issues.
It doesn’t matter. I see them all, male and female, as the exact same. Professional Perverts. However, I choose to deal with female perverts than male ones because there’s more familiarity.
Gynecology is a surgical discipline and it is quite normal that it is mostly filled with men. Performing a surgery is no easy task for average women in terms of physical strength needed for such procedures.
I’d definitely disagree with that, first off a lot of times there is no surgery involved. Anyways performing surgery requires skill not strength, don’t know where you got that from.
This question is still stupid, although I did momentarily forget that the male equivalent of gynecology is urology, but the point still stands that any doctor who is qualified to do the job should be allowed to do the job, and if being seen by a male makes a woman uncomfortable then she should request not to be seen by one, and the same goes for female urologists seeing men, although unsurprisingly this stupidly worded question doesn't address that side of the question.
@MlleCake Of course, men don't have to go for gynae appointments; they are males. Gynae appointments are for women. If men want to seek medical advice on their health such as on issues on the male reproductive system and urological problems, they can seek an andrologist. And going by your logic, does it mean that women cannot be qualified andrologists? Rubbish.

Why does it matter? My gynecologist is a guy and he's great at his job. But he's also really hot so I always get super nervous.
I'll give you two guesses. (You only need one.) :-))
But seriously, I feel much more comfortable with a woman OB/GYN. I go out of my way to find a woman doctor whenever I can.
How did you go? I think you have the ability to request a female gyno.
In regards to all males wanting to be gynos, not sure about that :/
No that ability depends on how many gyn doctors are available in the first place
If your really uncomfortable though can you try and choose dates with females?
No I had to go today Time is not on my side with this certain thing
I'm sorry to hear it. Shitty about today's appointment but how about the next appointment? Time to book it in with someone you will be comfortable with?
No it's not wrong! Using this logic men should be plastic surgeons either!
It's a high paying profession that women refuse to work in. If men were banned from the ob/gyn field, there would hardly be any gynecologists.
Look at you with your false stats, most gyns are of course female.
Well damn... you're right. So why don't you go to a female instead?

@MissDry well I’m sure so that’s all that matters.
I was under the same impression, but the statistics say 85% of gynecologists are women. I remember my ex saying how hard it was to find a female ob/gyn.
This should be common sense.
You still haven't answered my common sense question, though. Why don't you just find a female doctor?
Well first off this thing couldn’t wait, second off there was no other gyn doctor.
So how is it common sense that most ob/gyn are female? A doctor is a doctor. What specialty they go into is usually determined by their skill and where they can make the most money.
Well people who aren’t stupid would understand how people who specialize in vagina health and vaginas overall are usually the ones with vaginas.
I've actually had several woman friends tell me they prefer a male, which I didn't expect.
I don’t care. Wasn’t the question.
Get over yourself. It answers the "Do you think its wrong question", clearly multiple women don't think it's wrong
Use your brain.
If that person is truly a professional he will not see what your dirty mind is thinking of he will simply look diagnose and move on
I’m sure you have a dirty mind. Random internet dude. Who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

I'm pretty sure my wife had a crush on her obstetrician. He made her comfortable and confident. I think that was a good thing.
Uh Good thing for him sure
I really dont know what to think about this question. My gut reaction is that I don't like the idea of a male gynecologist.
It's a pretty high paying job, I imagine that's probably the motivation.
If you're not comfortable with it you can request a female one.
Can’t request what’s not there
Don’t urologists pay basically the same?
No idea what a urologist is. I just make websites, I don't know all the kinds of doctors xD
If there isn't one there you can go to a different surgery. There's always options.
Uh what? It’s not mainly about surgery.
Just googled it. The average annual salary for a gyno is almost double what it is for a urologist.
A doctor's surgery is the place where the doctors are. Might just be a UK thing though. I'm talking about the place though, not actual surgery.
There is only onebsolution to your dilemma :
Build a rocket ship and fuck off to Planet Lesbos. There you wil not have to deal with big , bad men.
It’s not wrong but I won’t go to a male gynecologist.
Whether or not it's wrong depends on his reason for wanting to be a gynecologist.
I would find It uncomfortable... In the UK You can ring up and change for a female doctor no extra charge or no extra waiting why not do that?
i don't mind... my OB doctor was great🤷♀️ my reg gynecologist was always female.🤔
There are woman urologists too and they are performing surgeries on prostate, testicles and penis :)
That doesn’t make it any less weird.

Pulling the baby off from uterus is no easy task most of the time. Men could do it with ease.
I mean what you’re trying to imply definitely sounds stupid.
Think about it :)
Men have to have gynecologist appointments as well. This question is completely stupid. If the doctor has the training, they can do the job, end of.
Stop getting your perception of what you think gynecologist doctors are like from Pornhub.
Men don't have to have gynecologist appointments.
You know, long before pornhub, many women have preferred female doctors for reproductive health matters.

Did I suggest, in any way, that men cannot or shouldn't be gynecologists? I did not.
All I said is that many women have preferences, and have had them, for a very long time.
@MlleCake
Like you say, it's a preference. The people I know around me, either friends, colleagues or family actually prefer a male gynecologist.
If it bothers you, you could have made it known and selected a woman. But men are very professional, too.
