Probably because of Christianity. Strong women were preferred in a lot of places before Christianity came to Europe.

Because strenght is a good thing by default. Being weak is impractical and there is no rational reason for anyone wanting to be weak.
The question is why it is considered good to be weak as a girl.

Am i saying it's a good to be a weak girl? I'm saying it's just ok and acceptable to be a weak girl. Yes strength is a good thing by default however muscles and strength are two different things. You can be strong by not looking muscular.
