You may be hypoglycemic or have diabetes. If your blood sugar levels are peaking and crashing, that can cause you to pig out on a variety of foods.
Have you had your blood tested for anything like this?
A couple of things you can do.
Eat complex carbohydrates, which have a slow-release of energy, so you don't trigger a peak/crash in your blood sugar.
Avoid processed foods like the plague. They're basically poison. This is far more true in the US than in the UK. But basically, avoid avoid avoid.
Drink lots of water. No soda. No diet drinks. Full cream milk (not the skimmed or low fat stuff) is actually really good, if you aren't the sort who can drink water easily.
Fresh fruit should be the only way you indulge your sweet tooth. And there's thousands of fruits out there. Find ones you like. Did you know most American kids in school can't identify fruits like a kiwi, or a passion-fruit? Try these things. There's more to fruit than just apples and pears and bananas.
There's a good book by the british hypnotist, Paul McKenna, which gives several really good tips (and no bullsh*t hypnosis stuff) on how to manage what you eat. It's called "I can make you thin".
Chew the food slowly. Taste and savour it. Avoid eating while doing something else, because you slip into "grazing" mode, where you're just piling food in and not tasting it.
Put the knife and fork down between bites.
It takes about 20 minutes for the "I'm satiated" feeling to kick in, and tell your body to stop eating. If you're cramming food in in those 20 minutes, you won't trigger the signal any faster. So slow the hell down.
When you're drinking something with flavour, like juice, take sips. If you guzzle it down, you don't actually get the flavour, until the very last mouth full. The guzzling action actually throws the liquids past the taste buds. (You can verify this for your self quite easily.)
Good luck, (even though I do think gyms are a waste of money when it comes to weight loss.)

Eat fresh fruit and veges none of that processed sh*t. Also eat lean meat its good for you to have protien. Processed foods are really sh*t because if you want to be healthy they stop your metabolism well they use up your metabolism as the liver tries to sort them out and detoxify these unatural chemicals so has no time to break deal with fats in a healthy manner. Also too much sugar is bad too. Especially soft drinks. Sugar gets to the bloodstream and just increases insulin levels and insulin works to lower the level of sugar in your blood by catalysing a reaction that turns it to fat. so to sum up eat more unprocessed food and cut the sugar intake a bit.
First of all, you CAN control how much you eat. If you are hungry between meals, eat a couple almonds, a salad or a granola bar. In this past week, I have made a complete change of my lifestyle. I work until 5pm, and then I go walk 3 miles afterward. It's hard to do it alone, but sometimes you have to make that commitment to yourself if you really want to lose weight.
In the mornings, I take a daily complete vitamin and an omega 3-6-9 pill. Supposedly the omega pill does something to increase your metabolism. I have been eating just a banana, but this week I am going to eat two eggs for breakfast. I eat a grilled chicken salad with maybe 2 1/2 teaspoons of ranch dressing on it, and I drink mainly nothing but water. Then I either eat tuna salad or another salad and a fruit for dinner. I have lost about 2lbs this week. It's going to be a long, miserable process to be successful, but I believe that you can do it. Good luck!
I am no doctor, so I can't tell you what too eat and what not to eat. Going to the gym can do some good, but the question is are the foods you eating healthy? and is eating too much doing harm to your body? because if it is going to the gym can just put more harm onto your body, and you don't want that. But the best thing too do is go to the doctor to seek some help before you do anything else.
