Your not supposed to curve your neck in a proper crunch, just your stomach muscles, it’s more painful but it gets the results you want, watch videos and be careful.

Either your pulling on your head with your arms to get up or just tightening those muscles as you crunch. Relax and place your hands on opposite shoulders
Your neck muscles are tight. You need to do stretching for them. Go gently.

You are using your cervical vertebrae for the upward push while doing crunches.
Kindly try to induce force through lumbar and thoracic area.You shouldn't hold your neck/head while doing crunches
