Should doctors accept gift from their patients for gratitute?

Like to thank a doctor because he/she treat the patient well or dont charge them for a service becuase there are doctors who do not treat patients well, and there cases of that in the real life.

I heard is not politically correct because that is the doctors job, to give a good service and they are not expecting any kind of reward for that.
Doctors should never be influence a medical care by receiving gifts from any patients because what they do it is their job period.

I disagree because the moment a doctor do not charge a patient for their consultation because the doctor knows the patient very well here is where I think the patient should give the doctor some kind of reward a gift in this case, even if the doctor won't want because what doctor do not charge their patients when a consultation is expensive.

They might not be allowed to receive gifts unless they are private practice and not traditional American doctors - my uncle is a private practice Chinese doctor who specializes in eastern medicine and he is allowed to accept gifts from patients.

I believe private practice doctors are allowed to accept gifts so you could give it to his secretary and let her hide it under her desk until the work shift is over. Having it in the medical office but might be a distraction to his work. You could verbally tell him you left him a gift when your in the doctors room so that he will know your the one who gave it to him.

We will give it to him in person cause he lives in the same neighborhood we lives. What if he wotn accept it if we already bought the gift? What shoudl we say

Bringing the office / doctor bagels, donuts, coffee (similar type stuff) would be totally acceptable. Anything more might make an uncomfortable conversation/exchange/decline.

I think the payment you give to the doctor is enough. It also depends on the person and how they're being treated.

Then I don't see a problem with giving him some gratuity. Some countries that's all the people can do is to pay them in some form. Like chickens, hogs and sometimes cattle. They used to do that in rural areas here in the United States also
