They annoy me. And here’s why
I have an immense hatred for people who decide to make the new year’s resolution to get in shape. Not because people want to get a healthier body, but because so many people have this same goal thus resulting in my gym becoming way more packed than the majority of the year. Not to mention most of these people quit.
For someone that genuinely loves working out it’s frustrating to have to wait an agonizing long time just to use one piece of workout equipment when the chances of the person using it will not have the same mindset of cranking out their sets as fast as possible, so that not only their workout is quick and efficient but also so that others don’t have to wait as long. But again most people that set this ridiculous goal don’t have that same gym etiquette and mindset
Personally I believe if someone needs an event such as the start of a new year to better themselves? They don’t actually want it or want to make the change. They should wake up on any ordinary day and look themselves in the mirror and make the decision to make a change.

I get where you're coming from. I specifically take a rest day (and lets not pretend its actually because I'm chrinically sleep depriced and hungover new years day most times) on Jan 1st some years if its too packed.
However - I personally love that more of my community I care about are getting out, being active, and aiming to vetter their health and their lives. And each healthy individual who does not quit - although may take a few attempts over a couple years to make the habit stick - will generally also produce offspring they will in turn teach those healthy habits they learned to as normalized and will create a big impact in 1-2 generations, even if most people fail the first few times they set a weight loss goal.
I never mind the minimal extra wait if it means another person who probably needs it more if they are just starting out is taking that first beautiful step to bettering their health and their lives.
