I used to go to a gym, and still maintain a membership, since it is very inexpensive. Instead, I started taking Yoga, at a studio called HARD YOGA, and it is,,,, JUST THAT! I was having low back pain, and randomly stopped at a YOGA studio and talked to an instructor who was standing outside the studio. I started taking Yoga there and was immediately sold, but the workouts were complete body, very strenuous, taxing, and I left there exhausted.
One new adult male was heard to say when leaving, "Well, I'm not doing that again"!
Since that time, I have brought my weight back to what it was in High School, reduced my body fat to about 10%, have a BMI of 21, and now have a 'concave' midsection, that I never though I would see again at my age. The workouts are hard, consistently hard, and my women instructors should be training marines at Camp Pendelton.
I changed my diet as a result of my training, and will NEVER go back to the kind of eating, portions etc that I was doing before, and it SHOWS.
Any Yogi's out there?

I remember my mom and I used to do classes at the YMCA, beginner's yoga was a class we frequently took. We once tried an intermediate class and we felt terribly embarrassed at how the instructor was able to lift up his entire body to stretch in certain poses and resting his weight on his hands and we were not able to do the same. I'm probably misremembering, but that's what it felt like and we both decided to just stick to the beginner's course so we wouldn't be so embarrassed in front of strangers again.
@cupcakethedestroyer You should have stuck with the advanced class. That is the only way to get better. Remember: everybody starts somewhere, and I felt the same way when I started. IT IS TOUGH, but that is how you reach the next level of fitness. I hope you will try again.
Nope, my goal is just mobility, I’m happy enough being able to touch my toes, I don’t have any desire to lift myself up into a handstand
No, never.
