+1 yWhittle away at your worst habits bit-by-bit. Give yourself an iterative approach rather than all-in-one mindset.
For example, if you love milky chocolate, an iterative approach is not to say goodbye to chocolate forever but you might be able to gradually get used to darker forms of chocolate until you're eating 90%+ Cacao with very little sugar in small bite-sized pieces to hit those chocolate cravings hard with few calories.
If you love sugar and cream in your coffee or tea, similar idea. Give yourself time to start gradually cutting down on the sugar or cream if you can't just go cold turkey.
A lot of people try to slash all their favorite foods overnight, like someone who is addicted to carbs trying to go keto overnight. I'm not against the ketogenic diet for some people; if it works, it works. Yet for a carb lover to go keto overnight seems like a recipe for near-guaranteed long-term failure; it lacks the iterative transition to gradually get used to a new lifestyle.
Same thing with exercise. We wouldn't expect someone who is out of shape to train like an Olympian from day one, right? That's setting themselves up for failure. You want to gradually progress towards harder exercise, not do the hardest from day one. Most people understand at least this part.
Yet they approach nutrition like this, trying to eat like a fitness model on day one while trying to amp themselves up: "Motivation! Willpower! Stay focused! 💪" And that's the thing, willpower runs out even for champions. If you rely on willpower as the governing force behind the success of a weight loss journey, that's bound to fail because willpower runs out. What you want to do instead is to gradually start whittling away at your most unhealthy habits and gradually adopting healthy ones in their place.

Cheers! 🤝 Walking is excellent although personally I think 10K steps/day as popular is not always so good though (although some people might just benefit from the structure).
Something I swear by is that "training" is superior to "exercise" as the former offers room for iterative progress and can involve a training variable. The latter doesn't. 10K steps/day is in the hardcore "exercise" category and completely outside the "training" one because you either do it for the day or you don't. There's no room for progress.
So an alternative, and there are many alternatives (all valid; this is just one example) is to aim to walk a mile/day, for example, but you're going to use "time" as a training variable. So you're going to cover that mile as fast as you can, but gradually increasing speed at your own pace. Initially you might walk slowly and comfortably. Yet as you work up to it, you might start speed-walking and really swinging your body and arms to cover it quickly. Then as you get comfortable doing that, maybe even start jogging it, and so forth. Again, all at a pace which is gentle and comfortable for you.
Yet that's one example of how to turn what would be "exercising" (absent a training variable) into "training" (given a training variable). With training variables, you have constant room to gradually progress as you improve, and it gives you plenty of room to start slow and work your way up to things at a pace which suits you.

+1 yIt's not as difficult as you think. Thinking about it is difficult and the first 3 days also. BUT, if you are willing to struggle through those 3 days? It's a doddle.
Get 2 dozen apples.
Drink lots of water, and eat only apples for 3 days. You will find you'll come out in spots. It is only the toxins releasing from your body! No need to worry.
After 3 days. Eat sardine salads OR pasta (no sauces) fried onions, peppers and kidney beans for your dinner. A light cereal like Porage for your breakfast and then an apple when you are hungry. Also, you can have a yoghurt in the evenings!
Always drink loads of water.
After about a week, carry on with that but include exercising before breakfast.
You should lose the weight pretty quickly
Keep to about 800 to 1000 calories per day after that Oh and VERY IMPORTANT.
Before you do this. Seek your Doctor's advice that is safe for you to do as everyone is different and not everybody should do this.

I am not a health expert but what helps me is sticking to tasty proteins/ tasty fibers and fiber can help move things along. Tasty fruits and veggies. Carbs and processed foods can be some culprits for gain but cholesterol I think gets irritated and a bit bad or high with like greasy foods and such?
Fats and all.
Try light/lean/clean meats/proteins. I personally enjoy beef jerky/ sausages/ chicken/ fish. I’ll snack on beef jerky.
This is somewhat cliche and I don't know how true, but Honey Nut Cheerios and plain cheerios are good for cholesterol and heart health?
The more fruits and proteins consumed the more full you’ll feel without having to gain. Carbs and starches mixed with that tasty seasoning can be the limit pusher as well as artificial sugars- like a glazed doughnut.
You can get “fun” / enjoyable flavors from seasoned meats and fruits and veggies. I feel like carbs shouldn’t be the MAIN part of the diet. Nor sugar.
You literally have many options when you look at it this way.
Seafood is not off limits. Nor fruit.
Recently I’ve tried these fiber brownies from my local store and it’s quite good. Just getting the basic essentials.
Search up from those categories and select the ones that seem more appealing to you. Then choose a few selections from the carbs lists/ and starches.
If you want to lower something just “wean” yourself down. Be practical.
Maybe one week of a meal with two packs or pepper or salt, then another few weeks or week of one pack of salt. If you have to do it by the grain, then go for it.
You can definitely trick your tastebuds into not missing anything.
if you try this method you’re sure to not have cravings or too many for the high spices/ high sodium/ high fats/ high sugar content filled foods.
Its possible! Just be logical!

+1 yYes, I used to eat unhealthy and loved eating fast food. like shawarma, hamburger, pizza... I started going to a dietician, at first I found diet very difficult because after all, you are trying to change your old habits, I've been on a diet for about 2 months, and one of the things that makes the diet easier for me is that there are foods I like in my diet list: for example, eggs, or meat dishes, or oat bowls. or eating something I want as a reward (like chocolate) when my diet goes well. In short, losing weight by eating everything without restricting ourselves is the most logical thing. But what matters is the portion, of course. I used to eat shawarma, but now I eat a small amount on the reward days I set for myself, it makes me happy and my health is not negatively affected.

And when I first started the diet, I couldn't get into clothes, I took pictures in that state, I lost 7-8 kilos in about 2 months and now I can wear clothes more easily. I can walk more easily, I can breathe easier. All of this is worth motivating me.✨

Try to eat smaller portions and eat slow , stay away from sugar as much as possible , and high sodium foods , drink a lot of water , drink water when you feel hungry that will help you eat less and make you feel full faster , put yourself on a schedule or set a reminder when to eat through out the day , if you don’t want to exercise much this is the best way to lose fat. It will be slower but be patient , if you want to burn fat faster add in exercise , at least an a half hour a day or more , walk or ride a bike to keep your body moving and your blood flowing. Eat fruits and vegetables , I prefer grapes , to snack on when watching tv , cut out soft drinks as much as possible especially soda , it’s ok to have a soda once in awhile but don’t drink a ton of it throughout the week , Give yourself a cheat day but don’t over indulge on your cheat day still drink that glass of water before you eat , and never starve yourself , that’s where most people go wrong , starving yourself slows down your metabolism, our bodies need fuel to burn

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yCut out all sugars. All carbs. All prepackaged foods. Alcohol.
Remove these entirely from your options.
And instead choose meats, eggs, nuts, veggies, fruit, water, cheese, stay away from high fat dairy.
Even if you don’t immediately cut down the portions or amount. This is the best way to start.
Its called clean eating.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/9h9S9kD67-Qeat these options for at least 3 months. After that you can try cutting down the portions using a calorie counting app.
Attendance to the gym should be THE MINIMUM 3x a week. And weight training or weight lifting is what’ll fix your entire metabolism.
THIS IS SIMPLY JUST A START, AND WHAT CURED ME 🤷🏻♀️

These are things I eat all the time. And you can get all this at Walmart.
Stay TF away from fruit juices, cause it strips all the fiber and makes you fat 🫵
Instead choose Splenda tea for flavor, or coconut water.

It’s all about replacing everything bad and fake.
I’m sure you can discern real from fake and fabricated.
And you can make all these salads taste good , just add lemon juice and seeds to it. Cause obviously they’ll taste like nothing just like that. It’s gonna taste like leaves , duhhh!! 😂
If you ever want to consume anything close to carbs or healthy carbs choose protein breads and protein pasta.
My personal trainer suggested these for me
- Dave’s Kiler Bread
- penne protein pasta
- okios protein yogurt
And obviously you can’t consume sodas anymore. So basically just get sprinkle water/ bubble water, and add Splenda to it. Or what ever sweetener you use. Same goes for any coffee or tea you might want. Use sweeteners instead 🫵

+1 yI eat whatever I want, I just don't eat obscene quantities of it. I'm much happier with a cleaner diet, as is my cardiologist, because good food can taste just as good if not better than shite food once you learn how to make it. My LDL was tested on 29FEB and measured 10, down from 12 the quarter before, down from 23 the quarter before that. Like @GuyAnswersGirls123 said... look for iterative changes that you'll actually stick by.
And you have to exercise. Make all the excuses you want, but they're all fake and you have to exercise.

+1 yTry to slowly replace unhealthy things with healthy things over time. So for instance for one week, instead of potato chips, substitute those with nuts. Or another week instead of candy substitute it with fruit. And just go down the lost of unhealthy foods like this until finally you’re eating mostly healthy stuff.

+1 yI switched to eating carnivore/ketovore with intermittent fasting six days a week. I made the switch mainly to avoid outbreaks of gout, even though I was having only one or two outbreaks a year. (It's so painful you'd do about anything to avoid a single outbreak.) No gout outbreaks since making the switch. Among the side effects have been a significant increase in HDL and significant decrease in LDL. It's been really easy, but meals are boring. Usually eggs and bacon for my first meal, and a hamburger patty or a steak for the second, and I eat just twice a day. That's why I have a cheat day once a week, for comfort foods like pizza, pasta, potatoes, a cold beer, etc.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yMy diet used to be horrible but now it's decently heathy. I use cronomter to log everything I eat. I haven't missed a day yet this year.
What helped me become so healthy was gradually making many tiny constructive adjustments. Good way to start would be to think "How can I consistently get most or preferably all of my essential macros & micros, while not being in too high of a surplus & without disliking what I eat.
For reference, I used to eat dairy a lot. But I found that I'm completely okay with not eating it & it freed up some space for other things I prefer to eat or maybe even things my body would prefer me to eat.
You just don't wanna be too strict too soon. Best to start by having fun & testing out many ways of eating.00 Reply
+1 yknow it's not a diet. It's a lifestyle change! If you view it as a diet, you may think short term.
I completely cut added sugars out of my diet in Nov and haven't looked back. Haven't even had a Hershey's kiss. I cut way back on refined carbs too. I eat fresh fruits and veggies, lean cuts of meat, and Keto bread and cereal. BUT on weekends, I cheat a bit: pizza, tacos, burgers, but I don't go overboard.
You're not changing your diet as much as you're changing your lifestyle for the better. Proper nutrition and exercise are vital.

a neighbor of mine did it... and not only her similar health issues got better, but she also dropped around 20 pounds30 Reply One very easy, inexpensive way to dramatically improve your diet, digestion and cholesterol, etc is to increase the fiber in your diet. However, this must be done in a very specific manner to be truly effective. Maybe if I'm good, you'll consider discussing this with me further, Goddess;)

I agree
There's no cheat codes. Count calories. One of keys to life is consistency. It especially is true when it comes to eating. Shouldn't be looking for diets so much as a life style change and commitment to eating better.
Eat well, sleep well and drink plenty of water. It's simple in plan, but to execute consistently is what makes it tough.00 Reply
Anonymous(18-24)+1 yReduce portions by 25%. After a week reduce again by the same amount. You'll lose 10 lbs. just like that. Then start replacing some bad food with good food and gradually keep doing that. Slowly remove sugar and processed food. You'll lose another 10 lbs. in about 2 months.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yNot telling you you should do this but I went cold turkey into a keto diet and I am now down 33lbs in 2 months. For me I needed the change fast. But I'm an all or nothing kind of gal so for me that's what works.
But for you I would say get rid of all the junk food if you haven't already in your house and start eating fruits and vegetables with lean protein. And make sure to get a lot of protein in your diet to stay satiated and slowly transition into a low carb diet.00 Reply- 602 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic.
