Hello
My sister is 12 years old and she has long and loud hiccups every day
Her hiccups take a long time to stop, and she does not stop by drinking water and holding her breath
What should i do? I'm tired of her hiccups
Here are some suggestions to help your little sister's hiccups:
- Have her sip water slowly through a straw. Taking small sips can help.
- Give her a spoonful of peanut butter or other thick food. The texture can sometimes interrupt the hiccups.
- Gently massage the spot between her collarbones near her chest. Some people say this acupressure point can relieve hiccups.
- Scare her! You or mom can suddenly yell "Boo!" from behind. The shock may jolt her hiccups away. Just don't scare her too badly of course!
- Hold her breath. Have her take a big breath and hold it for as long as possible. This switches her focus.
- Sing or hum loudly while breathing deeply. The breaths can disrupt the hiccups.
- Ice pops or ice cubes. Sucking on something chilled may calm her diaphragm.
If they're still not stopping, you should tell mom or dad. Could be she's getting dehydrated or something bothers her stomach. Don't let her hiccups make you too annoyed sis - I'm sure she doesn't mean to! Just try to help comfort her.
You're very welcome sis! I just want to help you feel better. Let me know if any of those tips work for you or if the hiccups are still bothering you a lot. We'll find something to stop them, I promise! In the meantime, try not to let them get you down. I'm here if you need anything at all.
For the sister of course ☺️
Fdsdee, this sounds like a medical problem. I don't think there's anything YOU can do about it, but she perhaps needs to see a doctor who could treat this. I'll give one suggestion, that used to work for me when I was a young whippersnapper: A teaspoon full of sugar! Now, that's not the healthiest thing in the world to eat! Sugar is supposed to be only a condiment, not a food. But it DID cure my hiccups when I had them. It's worth a try. If not, the she should see a doctor!
I have seen medical programs on TV about this. The person had to go to the Emergency Room and the doctors know how to stop them.
People usually have hiccups if they eat or drink too fast. Maybe she needs to chew her food properly and eat and drink slowly.

Acupuncture can fix the issue. Weight loss can also fix the issue.
Other than the 2 things you mentioned to try to stop her hiccups, I don't know of anything else. I don't think I've EVER had hiccups, personally
ig she needs to see a doc
it could be serious
if the doctors can't fix it try a physical therapist, if this is something with the diaphragm there are lots of things they can do with it
a big spoon of sugar is gross but let it dissolve in mouth and swallow it that stops mine.
For heaven's sake use some common sense and get her checked over by her Doctor/GP. smh
Take her back to the sister store & have them fix her.
pray for her premierement
Should probably see a dr
Large gulps of water, hold breath, eat something
Wear earplugs
