How to stay in shape during the winter?

OK so this is for future reference but where I lie we get up to four feet of snow. I'm a cross-country runner and I only run outside. (I will use a treadmill if one is there but it's usually not) anyways I have a less then stellar metabolism and want to know ways to stay in shape in the winter. And please don't suggest skiing because I can only afford to go twice a winter.
