Lot of people take it here since it's paid by insurance if people have diabetes. Weight loss happens by 20-30%. however blood sugar level fall by 80% of patients with insulin resistant type 2 diabetes who take medium dose of semaglutide over longer time. I just heard that, no clue about other diabetes type 1 and other type 2.
Constipation seems to be common on beginning or treatment but with more fibers in diet it seems to get normal after month.
With higher does over longer time there is a low risk of eye cataracts (clouding in lens). In this case therapy must be stopped instantly.
I think for people with insulin resistant diabetes it's life saving medication. Nerve and organ damage due high blood sugar are life threatening in long run, so the risk is calculable in my opinion.
For losing weight rather less. I causes weight loss but it's not a magic stuff that people can eat like a hippopotamus and loss weight like some media articles try to suggest.
My husband uses Mounjaro for about 5 weeks. This is his second round, he had to stop in the first round because his body was not ready for the drugs effects. To use these drugs you need to prepare your body and you absolutely need to get a few suppliments.
My husband uses prebiotics for gut regulations, having creatine and protein powder supplements for the muscle loss and he drinks lot of fluids, meaning water and he exercises.
What your body need depend on what you lack, so ask your doctor to explain about these things. Otherwise you will loose your body mass which you definitely don't want to loose while trying to loose some weight...
@Paige2006 He had two arteries blocked, they had to put two stents in there. After that the doctor told him he needs to loose weight and suggested GLP1's, so he did.
What God awful society we have that this is our problem and solution...
no. Jesus... take the wheel...
People... stop eating crap, loads of crap, processed salt and sugar and soda drinks crap, stop eating so much.
The majority of people don't need this, they need to make changes.
Scotty, beam me up...
@molonski2 Thank you, glad someone else sees it. You are "older", not so sure the young ones know...
@molonski2 I hear like 50-60% in USA. traveled to asia, they are all trim. we are all "preserved". It's a sign our wealth... or corruption... went too far. It's reverting, but these drugs are the wrong way.
Our people are so brain washed... thus my conservative positions with things like media such. We watched some of a show the other night... a cartoon of legos. In it they advertise mcdonalds and burger king type symbols. Nothing wrong with some fake meat once a year, but that's not what happens in reality.
maybe the ayatollah was right on some subjects after all... some "slight sarcasm".
@lightbulb27 what you are suggesting doesn't solve the problem of diabetes. It will, however, make it worse.
@msc545 consuming mass quantities of over salted over sugared fried fast food and prepared preserved foods is not the answer. we are a sick country by any standard. it happened to the wealthiest of kings as well whom were gluttons. sadly, we think and have been trained the answer to our problems... is to take a drug. It's the most profitable, the allopathic medicine.
nothing wrong with science, but there's something missing in our translation..."first... do no harm". "patient, heal thyself... first". Most such problems can be resolved by behavior.
I think your bulb is blown one day you will grow up and find out you don’t know it all and will realize how little you do know
I have type 2 diabetes. It's caused by genetics as far as anyone knows. The things that you mentioned can make it worse or better but they don't cause it. One way to cope with diabetes. If you don't have any medication at all is to essentially starve yourself and eat almost nothing. This will cause you to lose a lot of weight and it will cause other problems. But yeah I will get your blood sugar back to normal too. That'll be the least of your problems at that point.
@msc545 I see, that makes some sense. But most anything would be genetic disposition, right?
I am not seeing people starve themselves, only make changes and is sufficient and enjoy life. No meds, do fine. But yes, something else always turn up. It seems to run in the Italian blood line, but I assumed it was largely inputs of diet choices. Given the amount of sugar I've consumed, my pancrease should be cranky. My chinese family eats very differently, low incidence of diabetes. Be curious to see what happens to "Americanized" chinese/indians as they learn to make worse choices.
Can you confirm the following:
a) You've never had much sweets, like maybe a slice of low sugar cake with fruit on your birthday. You never had strongly rich sweet cakes from grocery store or home made boxed cakes. You never did much Halloween "candy", certainly not on a daily basis. You didn't eat lots of donuts
b) you ate lots of vegetables and fuits
c) you never or rarely had prepared lunch meats.
If all of that is false... you had Italian upbringing I saw. Sugar, refined foods that are really not quality, etc... If it is all true, you were better off in diet, like chinese I know, but others. This is the extremes in how people eat and I suspect has a heavy influence on how their genes translate the environment.
Losing pancreatic function is genetically mediated. That is what happens in both forms of diabetes; however, in type 1 diabetes you lose it entirely. In type 2 diabetes, you lose it to an extent that's debilitating, but it usually doesn't stop functioning completely. People do the things that you suggested; then the type 2 diabetes gets a lot worse fairly quickly. However, Type 2 Diabetes does not start because people have a bad diet. That is a common myth that is not true.
The genetic card should never be played on this one , it's a complete excuse , it's like saying " I come from a series of alcoholics , so I have to drink a bottle of whiskey " ..
Well , I come from a line of type 2 , it killed my mother ( eventually ) my older brother is type 2 , taking a plethora of sht , it will eventually kill him too , my elder sister ( undiagnosed ) but a certainty.
I have worked in the field very conscious of the choices the hazards , and I live my life accordingly.
It's not that hard , but to simply blame genetics simply shows a complete lack of discipline , it a choice for all of us..
And with the correct lifestyle great results can be achieved , but it needs commitment , not drugs.
There’s all kinds of things diabetic medicines can cause for side effects and it really varies by person I used to take one I think it was called victoza it would make me feel really sick any time I consumed any carbs I could not eat any potatoes without feeling sick I had to quit it
@Paige2006 I really don’t know if it caused my heart issue they think it beating out of whack caused the blood clot and they think that the stroke was caused by a clot that came from my heart I wouldn’t be surprised if it was not all linked to being diabetic
@Paige2006 lol today my insurance said they don’t want to pay for mounjaro and they want me to take ozempic for a while instead 😂😂 just got to love when insurance companies decide they should be the doctor and choose your medicine why do I bother going to the doctor anymore lol I should just be going to see the fat azz at the insurance office that doesn’t do anything but sit behind a desk and try to make peoples lives miserable for to screw them over repeatedly lol bunch of Enshittificators 😂
@Page2006 Medicaid state put me on it when I had my heart attack
Mine might if pay for mounjaro if the ozempic fails and they claim they will pay for the ozempic just really tees me off that they will jump in there and screw someone up when a med is possibly working well and say no no no you try this instead and I already had a medication from Novo Nordisk give me issues I thought I had tried ozempic before but after my doctor handed me a box and gave me my instructions I really don’t think I have used it I am not too crazy about playing Guinea pig for them with meds lol I had to have a ambulance come pick me up for anaphylactic shock for taking a colonoscopy prep med with propylene glycol in it and that sucked lol
Thank you for the mho

Yes, started using it after putting on serious weight after having 3 kids. I lost 3 stone but for some reason I didn't lose any weight on my boobs. Like im back to my pre pregnancy figure, flat stomach maybe even thinner but my boobs are ridiculously big by comparison.
It is scary to think that once you start taking these drugs you have to stay on them for the rest of your life or else the weight will just come back on. I wonder if I am the only one who sees potential problems 20 years down the road?
@Paige2006 if it is related to blood sugar it is a different story, People take insulin for life. We have an obesity problem in America..
@molonski2 thank you😊😊😊
I have used Ozempic for three years as I am a diabetic. I didn't use it for weigh loss as I didn't need to lose any. It does make you very constipated. I am considering changing to Mounjaro in June.
No, never. However, I'm planning on seeing a dietitian this spring (6 months' time); to get a diet and exercise plan and lose lots of weight.
Nope.. I keep hearing they can weaken your bones.. So I would always try to stick to natural ways to stay healthy before I would try those..
I tried Ozempic for a few weeks at doctor recommendation.
It made me vomit uncontrollably for weeks on end, so I stopped using it.
I would not be taking those drugs. It would more worthwhile concentrating on diet and exercise
nope... but must drugs out there can cause constipation
I took Ozempic for a few months last year. not to lose weight but to control my diabetes and boy did it do the total opposite of constipation to me
I have type 2 diabetes and I use Trulicity with great success.
I used to take trulicity and the only thing I didn’t like about it at first was that auto injection sometimes it would hit a nerve and make me flinch and snatch the needle out and I would lose my dose on the floor it worked really well for my type II and then my stupid insurance told my doctor that they didn’t want to keep paying the price for it and wanted me to try a different brand of junk I had to take every day that didn’t work and then my doctor put me back on Trulicity and it didn’t do it’s job and caused me quite a bit of stomach problems asker I took ozempic and didn’t have any problems with it you might want to tell your doctor to give you the inhaler for if your blood sugar goes low if you don’t have diabetes I’m taking mounjaro right now I hear it’s a Trulicity variant and so far I am doing OK with it I have only taken it for a week so far 1 injection tomorrow I am supposed to take dose 2 I don’t know if it’s needle is smaller than Trulicity or not but it kind of feels like it might be I have come close to going low twice using it so I really recommend you make sure you have one of those inhalers or carry something with you to get sugar in you quickly if you start going low I used to carry the koolAid single pack mix things I always have a bottle of water with me and I would pour the koolAid in my water if I would go low another thing I would do would carry a couple sugar packs in my meter case or one in a small ziplock bag in my wallet the kind of little bags for putting medication in if you go low you will feel like crap if you have the same experience I have and might get the shakes I get the shakes anytime I go below 80 which is supposedly not really low they say 70 is closer to be getting worried and 60 is supposed to be something to be more concerned about especially if you are not coming back up or continue to go down there’s a point where if you go to low you can’t help yourself to do anything to bring it up &can be fatal if you keep going lower
@1WildBeatlejuice What is your A1c?
@Paige2006 it’s horrible now I had some hospital issues and it went up tot ten something lol my doctor told me you won’t live long like that the last time it was checked not long after that and not long ago was like 9 lol so it’s coming back down it used to be like 6 when I was doing the Trulicity
@1WildBeatlejuice 10 is really high and dangerous. Six is still higher than it should be. Maybe you need a higher dose. Do you like Mounjaro? I am switching from Ozempic to Mounjaro in June.
Insurance said they didn’t want to pay for my oxempic either so I had to get a different insulin for it I don’t know what one they gave me for it’s generic replacement I’m currently taking 3 insulins and Jardience the Jardience used to work well all by itself but I am falling apart and have all sorts of issues with all kinds of things anymore
@1WildBeatlejuice Have you tried the Patience Assistance program for Ozempic?
@Paige2006 yeah 10 is crazy high and dangerous lol 6 is actually pretty good for me that’s fairly close to pre diabetic levels so far I do like mounjaro I’m not having the issues I was with Trulicity that started after the insurance did their hey let’s pretend we are doctors lol think it’s a smaller needle than Trulicity too I’m on the 2.5 mg dose I just took my weekly shot Wednesday is my dose day for it lol I might be able to cut out one or maybe both the other insulins I am taking if it keeps going like it has been I’m taking basalgar once a day and lispro multiple times a day right now
I wouldn’t be surprised if I was checking out of this world either before or right at ten years the way things keep going last June I had a stroke that was a really funny experience to me then October my heart decided it would start doing crazy things it started shorting out and gave me ventricular tachycardia which made them find out I had a blood clot hanging around in my heart it was not causing problems my heart problems were electrical and nerve issues lol that was weird when it happened i was eat super had a racing feeling in my heart I thought it was because I was eating and it was chill I was eating also and it was like stuff suddenly started shutting down and I was like passing out while I was awake I could see everything and I just lost motor control and was about to fall in my plate and then I guess my heart started pumping better and I caught myself before I fell into my bowl of chili 😂 really weird experience and Christmas I got a blood clot in my kidney
@1WildBeatlejuice Do you think being a diabetic had anything to do with the stroke or your heart
@Paige2006 my A1c is 5 on Trulicity along with metformin. I don't have problems with blood sugar being too low normally, but if it does get low, I can take either a glucose tablet or some fruit juice, and that usually solves the problem very quickly.
One of you is using an injectable GLP-1 agonist, like Ozempic or Mounjaro or Trulicity. The proper place to inject it is just below your breast bone, into the soft tissue in that area. That will let the needle go in all the way. You basically won't feel it, and all the contents of the injector will go exactly where you're supposed to go. Anyplace else you're injecting into muscle, and that's going to be a problem. You may break the needle, or you may not get it injected all the way. This is a very small, delicate needle. Most of the time I can't even feel it, and I have to check the injector to make sure the liquid actually went into me.
I used to have great success with it trulicity lol but I think quitting and then restarting some time later screwed me up thanks to the insurance playing doctor and not wanting to pay for it mounjaro I was using and injecting in my stomach or belly and was having no problem with it but my insurance said they don’t want to pay for it either and now wants me to go to ozempic 😣😂😂
I don’t have enough fat bellow my Breast bone I don’t really have enough anywhere but my belly unless I pinch my skin and use my thighs or my butt but I have to pinch my skin up to get it up to keep it from going into my muscle lol
@1WildBeatlejuice I give it in my upper leg or even sometimes I have done it in the middle of my legs. I do it in different places.
@Page2006 my thigh was my preferred spot for Trulicity I had to sit down to make sure I didn’t jerk my leg if it hit a nerve lol I sprayed a few shots on the floor because of that but I had to get a pinch of skin to raise my skin up off my muscles to make sure it wasn’t injected into my muscles fat is thin there lol
I am one of the lucky ones. I don't am not diabetic & have no need for weight lose drugs.
I inject Mounjaro once a week for my type 2 diabetes.
Aren't they fat belly solutions? That would conflict with constipation..
Why take those risk when diet and exercise will give you the results you want without any risk at all
@Paige2006 diet and exercise will not regulate your blood sugar, but there's always going to be those diet and exercise people out there who think that those recommendations, along with probably some over-the-counter crap, solve everything. Of course, these people don't have diabetes, but if they did, their diabetes would be uncontrolled. The only epidemic in the United States that is worse than diabetes is ignorance.
No , I haven't
Correct those have that risk
They are terrible for you. It's for lazy fatties
I never heard about those...
Eww 😷
Nope.
