Also, how do you use your protein powder? How do you make your personal protein shake?
Thanks for your input. :)
I normally use either Myofusion by Gaspari Nutrition or Syntha 6 by BSN. They're both good and I'm not too picky about them. I get whichever one is on sale for the cheaper price at the time. Right now I'm trying a new one called Combat Powder by Musclepharm. It's definitely very different from the other two I normally go with but not necessarily in a bad way.
I bring a shaker cup with me to the gym everyday that has compartments in it. In one compartment I keep pre-workout soluton and in the other I keep the protein powder. 20 minutes before workout, I take the pre with water, and 20 minutes after workout, I take the protein powder also with water and a piece of fruit.
If you're looking for reviews of the ones I've tried, my opinion is this:
Syntha 6 and Myofusion are both great all-purpose powders that were designed to be used as meal replacements as well. Combat Powder is more of a purpose-built post-workout supplement only. It doesn't leave you full or satisfied like the other two, but then it's not really supposed to either. It's not meant to be a meal replacement like they are.
Other ones I've tried:
Dymatize Elite Gourmet - Good stuff if you're on a budget. Cheap as chips compared to what I normally get. But if you can afford more, you should spend more.
Optimum Nutrition Hydro Whey - Not at all filling but very tasty. Mixes well with both water and milk.
Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey - Good for what it is, pretty cheap but good pure whey. Mixes well with milk. Comes out god awful with water.
GNC Pro Performance AMP Wheybolic 60 - Like the Combat Powder, it's another dedicated post-workout one. Each "serving" is actually two servings. It's 3 scoops per serving. But you're supposed to split a serving up between half pre workout and half post. It's ridiculously expensive and, in my opinion, not worth the money. Some people who can afford it swear by it though.
I don't really like any of the protein powders I'v tried because they all taste horrible but the one I use right now is Jillian Michaels Natural Whey Protein in vanilla flavor that I picked up a Sam's Club. So far it's the only one that I can drink without wanting to throw up. I usually drink it 20 minutes after my workout. It would actualy be really helpful if someone shared a tasty whey protein powder...
I use a whey protein by now. I usually mix it with chocolate almond milk.
