I buy bulk packs of frozen chicken breasts/fish fillets or a bag of frozen shrimp. I take out what I want, let it defrost. A lot of times I'll do this the night before, then in the morning I'll marinade it so when I get home and its time to cook dinner its yummy and seasoned.
I get a lot of fruits and veggies and just eat those (usually cheap and lasts days). I'll get a steam pack of frozen ones and just eat half of the bag and put the rest in the fridge for the next day.
For sides I put the small, single packs of rice or I'll get a box of pasta and cook what I want (I barely eat pasta though).
Your best bet is to buy in bulk. You'll find that its a lot easier to cook for yourself once you get used to it.

When I first started university I could only cook a few things and I used to literally live off baked beans and tinned foods. Now I eat quite decently and my roommates aren't too bad either...we eat cereals, oatmeal for breakfast and we each take our turns cooking in the evening , things that aren't too complicated like spaghetti bolognaise , chili con carne, salad.
me? I mainly cook indonesian food, dutch food,italian food, mexican food. And if I don't feel like cooking I grab some dutch fries, hamburgers subway, wok sushi or pizza. don't forget the veggies and fruits or you'll regret it.
Buy a George Foreman grill. Chicken breasts, fish, and lean beef. Pasta in the pasta boat using whole grain pasta with mixed veggies & olive oil. Eggs and egg whites. Oatmeal.

Eggg and vegetable dishes lend themselves to serving a lot of eople qickly and healthily. Avoid a lot of meat that takes a lot of preparation time and isn't so healthy.

you could get some good ideas from him =)packaged and canned food. Frozen food. breads . cheese . and ordering food from restaurants or takeouts.
But its always healthier to cook than eat these because then eventually you get sick of it and sick in general.I live by myself and usually eat salads or sandwiches or just takeout
