- My boyfriend planned a last-minute vacation to see his family, who live four hours away from us.
- I was hesitant about going because I didn't have any PTO left at work, and if I went, I'd miss a community event I volunteered for.
- He begged me to go and said he'd pay me the money lost for missing work (which he did do).
- We took two cars because I got held up at work.
- We carpooled with his brother and sister-in-law to drive an hour away to shop. He asked if we could take my car because I have the largest car. I said that was fine; he drove it and paid for the gas.
- When we stopped at the gas station, he came back to the car with a jelly donut.
- I got annoyed because we've been together two years; he knows I don't allow anyone, including myself, to eat in my car. I also feel it's also common courtesy not to eat in front of other people without offering them something.
- I told him how I felt when we got back to the hotel room. He told me it's stupid that I don't let people eat in my car and that if I wanted a donut, I could have gotten one myself.
- He then turned the hotel keys in and took off. I had no choice but to drive home, so I missed the volunteer event and drove eight hours total for nothing.
Woooow what a turd, are you sure it was only about the donut? Perhaps he was angry about something else too, I don't think even a 4 year old would behave that way.

This isn't even a question. You gave up time at your job and an event for him, and he really didn't seem appreciative. Even if he drove off and you hadn't left anything to be with his family, he would still be in the wrong. From what you explained, there is no reason for you to be in the wrong.
I read this over twice. I got the idea that after the jelly donut incident your boyfriend just let you go home by yourself. If that is the case he was a real jerk.

You are totally right. First mistake was planning something last minute. Second mistake was eating in your car. I don't let anyone eat in my car either. That's a deal breaker for me. I would of broke up right there. Third mistake with the keys is where he is just begging for you to break up with him.
Sounds a little complicated but he did a jerk thing. This is his true behavior.
He mostly is, for being so immature and rude
