If I got paid in chips and dark every win, like usual, it would definitely be billiards.
I've always wanted to be more athletic but I have little coordination.
I love kick-boxing so maybe I'd be a martial artist. I love the idea of being able to make my body fly through the air like ballet or gymnastics but use it for a purpose : to fight. Also, I always had a little too much bodily energy for those gentler athletics. Martial Arts really let off steam and create calming focus at the same time. They're great.
I've always loved lacrosse and sailing though I'm lousy at both...I've always wanted to surf, too.
It is such a hard-core sport, the training is constant and every session is different because of the water. It's also dangerous and poetical at the same time. I love the feeling of being so small compared to nature and having to be strong to survive it while having to pay attention and work with the natural flow to survive as well.11 Reply

softball and tennis. I love both sports but I can kick some ass in volleyball which unfortunately isn't a choice :(

This is easy for me. Baseball, I'd be a starting pitcher to be exact; it's what I played growing up. There's really not many things as satisfying as striking out a guy, especially when you get the hat trick on the same dude, lol.
Ideal Pitching repertoire: 4SFB (top out at mid 90s), Circle-change, Slider, and maybe a 2SFB or Cutter.
Pitching repertoire IRL (age 18): 4SFB (Top out mid 80s), Curve-ball, Slider (My slider was pretty nasty for an 18 year old).
I got close to getting a baseball scholarship but my senior year performance in high school wasn't nearly as good as when I was a junior. I sometimes wonder what would have been but, that's life.23 Reply- +1 y
as a former softball pitcher I can confirm this. Striking dudes out is pretty cool.
Or if they drill the ball right back at you, snagging it is awesome as well. - +1 y
Right there with you. Work every five days but get paid the same or better than everyone else? Sign me up. Giving a guy the old "golden sombrero" is very satisfying. My fantasy arsenal would be: 4 seam FB at 93-96, Slider, Split finger fastball, 12-6 hammer curve. Roy Halladay is my favorite pitcher.
Football, or as us Americans call it...soccer. They make just about the most money in the world of professional sports and it is hella fun. By far the most intense sport I have played, also requires tip-top shape unlike most other big sports. Played it since I was two years old, wouldn't trade it for any other sport.

Although top athletes in neither sport are lacking in terms of base pay, the salaries of NFL players surpass those of professional soccer players.
For the NFL's 2009-2010 season, average salary for the top five highest-paid players (not including endorsement deals) was $20.32 million. For the top five footballers, salaries averaged $14.67 million.-The base pay is OK for soccer players but NFL players make much more as a base pay. - +1 y
You are forgetting that there are 100 times as many professional soccer players as there are football players. Also, the top paid football players are quarterbacks, which make about 3x as much money as the next highest paid position...so in reality soccer players on average make more money than football players. Also, on the list of top 25 sports clubs in the world by money, I think 10 or so of them were soccer and were in the top 20

I did not forget. This was your statement "They make just about the most money in the world of professional sports" Your statements are not even close to true. The median salary in the NFL in 2009 was roughly $770,000. In 2008 it was about $720,000. The Steelers have the highest median salary at $1.1 million, the Packers the lowest at $440,000. The Redskins have the highest payroll at $123 million. The Giants have the lowest at $76 million.

The average (arithmetic mean) NFL salary in 2006 was $1.4 million. As of the 2007 season, the minimum salary for a rookie is $285,000. The minimum salary increases according to the number of years the player has been in the league. The highest minimum salary is $820,000 for players who have been in the league 11 years or more.
Read more: link . There are 1,696 football players. - +1 y
Professional soccer players median salary for 2008-2011 get around $1.1 million. The top 5 players, in comparison to your top five football players, make about $13.9 million a year averaged. 7 of the top 10 best paid sports teams in the world, including the top 4, are soccer teams. All of their players combined average between $5-11 million per year. one basketball team and 2 baseball teams made that list. And really the packers are the lowest? Man, they're my team =\

You are thinking American soccer, which gets paid sh*t. Professional soccer players outside of the USA get paid more than any other athlete in the world. If we are talking strictly American players/sports, then hell yes football makes way more. Soccer is the most popular sport in the world for a reason, and brings in more money than the next 3 sports combined. It's as simple as that.

+1 yI'm Canadian so definitely hockey, but of the poll choices I took baseball. It's pretty much my second favorite regularly-scheduled sport now that the steroid era is over.

Jose Bautista would never juice. He's a good guy. Same with Edwin Encarnacion. The rest of the league outside the Jays I'm not all that familiar with.
- +1 y
I do not, repeat do NOT, consider Mark McGwire or Sammy Sosa 'good guys'. And Barry Bonds, dude's one of the bigger A-holes in pro sports, at least he was while he was playing.
+1 yDammit, I was going to ask this question. Anyways I'd choose football or soccer. Why the hell aren't those sports up there? ha ha :P

I'd love to be an offensive minded defenseman. Like Gary Suter or Dion Phaneuf.
Your forwards have to know that your going to "pinch" so one of them can play back on point.
Gary Suter once asked Bernie Nichols (centerman) if he could skate backwards when he pinches.10 Reply Probably E- there's less chance of me getting hit in the face compared to the other ones(even golf...it's happened)
If it was ANY sport though I'd pick Equestrian (Hunter Jumpers!)20 Reply

Voted for Basketball, because I've played it in the past, but none of the options really appeal to me. I'd want to be sponsored for longboarding, snowboarding or basejumping/wingsuit flying.
