& has anyone tried P90X?
Which one is better?
Which one gives faster results?
INSANITY - not recommended for people who have never played a sport. you are going to push your body to the limit to the point where you might feel like your heart is going to explode during every workout. I do this 3-4 times a week and I sweat from places I have never sweat from in my life. you will be dripping sweat. this program is VERY easy to quit because its SUPER hard. but you gotta want it to get results
P90X - Mostly concentrates on weight lifting. I do this 4-6 days a week. not as hard on your heart as insanity but it does a good number on your muscles. shows results quicker than insanity in terms of muscle gain but not on fat loss. requires that you buy weights separately. dumb bells and a pull up bar are mandatory plus maybe two others such as push up handles and yoga mats which I don't use at all.
Basically, both do a good job. Insanity is mostly cardio which is better for weight loss but is WAY less fun to do. P90X is more towards muscle gain. women can do a different versions of each exercise which lets them build lean muscle and has a trimming effect on their body. but above all, you have to want it. neither are for quitters. I just turned 25 and my motivation is to be in the best shape of my life. I do both plus eat healthy (which is 65-70% of both workouts) and I take supplements. if you want I can tell you how to dl them for free cause they're both pretty expensive
That's awesome! thanks for all the detailed info... Where can I get it for free? :P
torrents. that's where I got them.
I've no idea what that is... do you have a link? o.0
first you need to download utorrent.com - its the program that does the actual downloading (free)
then go to this website, here is the direct link for insanity
link
then press download now... and just do what it says. if you have verizon fios, it should take less than 6 hrs. if you need more help message me
They're two totally different types of programs for two totally different types of results. Insanity is primarily cardio. P90X is primarily weight training with a little bit of cardio thrown in. They both give results just as "good" as the other but both give different kinds of results. Do you want the kinds of results you need weight training to get? If so, P90X is the better choice.
Honestly though neither of these programs are all THAT great because you can get better results yourself by just putting together a strict gym regimen. A lot of people who do P90X complain that they ended up with lower body development that wasn't as good as the upper body development in the end because the two dumbbells they have you working out with are enough to work your upper body properly but your lower takes a _lot_ more. You would need access to a squat rack and a barbell to work your lower half as well as those dumbbells work your upper.
Insanity only works because of the high intensity level. The actual workout plan follows no real pattern or structure and is extremely prone to injury because the knees weren't meant to take that kind of abuse. So yeah, if you're willing to go to a gym 4 days a week you CAN get better results than either one of these two programs.
Thank you, though you actually scared me now with this knee abuse... Have you actually tried it?
Yes. I made it about a week and a half into the program before I stopped due to injury, although it wasn't the kind I mentioned. It was me losing my footing and falling flat on my face during an exercise that involved a lot of fancy footwork, which is a weak point of mine.
Insanity revolves around plyometrics, a form of exercise that requires a lot of high impact work. It was developed not as a tool for people to get in shape, but for athletes to better train for their sport.
Even those athletes only do it 2-3 days a week max. With Insanity you're doing it 4-5. And you're not even an elite athlete. Sounds like a recipe for disaster, doesn't it?
That being said I've gotten better results than either program putting one together myself.
aw It sucks you got injured :(
I'm trying it out and so far I like it and I'm getting p90x soon... which is why I was asking. I haven't felt anything wrong so far I'm 2 weeks in and I'm doing it twice a day for 6 days and run 4 miles 3 days of the week alongside the brazilian butt lift :} My body feels sore most of the time but I like it!
Though when you said about the knee thing I noticed when I kneel or stretch my leg I feel a strain? or maybe it's normal. Anyway Thank u!
I highly recommend supplementing it with a weight training regimen focused specifically on working the upper body "pull" muscles (biceps and back) as the exercises they have you do in Insanity do not work your upper back or biceps or forearms. These muscles can only be worked with resisted pulling motions which are impossible to do when it's just your bodyweight on the floor.
I highly recommend going with a weightlifting regimen anyway. Bodyweight training alone often leads to a bias of upper body over lower, because bodyweight exercises may be enough to challenge your upper body strength, but more often than not your legs (strength-wise) "outgrow" bodyweight exercises alone very early on. The end result is that you're working your upper body much harder than your lower body which creates imbalance. This imbalance can only be corrected with heavy weight lifting.
Ohhh, I hadn't realized that.. I will do that!
THNX!
I've tried both,Insanity is my favorite but depending on what kind of results you want p90X may be better suited.
Insanity is mostly based on cardio. You will lose weight more or less fast but won't build much muscle mass.
P90x has a lot less cardio workouts. I thought the the few cardio workouts in the programm were kinda weak, so def focuses more on building muscle mass.
I liked insanity more because the workouts were shorter and you didn't need equipment. So you can pretty much do it everywhere and squeeze it into your shedule. For P90x you will at least need resistance bands, more equipment would probably be helpfull like a chinup bar, yoga block ...
And the workouts were longer and sometimes I thought they weren't even that challenging but just boring. The Insanity workouts are so fast that you won't even have time to get bored. While p90x is just a bit more slow going.
I didn't really lose a lot of weight with either programms with p90x I even gained some but I def got more toned. I saw results after about one month, but particulary with Insanity I felt better and stronger after the first week already
OH, I see... thank you a bunch for detailed information! :)
I've done both and they're both great workout series. However, both have their own particular focus; P90X is more for strengthening exercises and building muscle while Insanity works a lot more with cardio and fat burning. So it really depends on what you're looking for in a workout.
I have heard, though I've yet to try it, that there was a workout that combined the two programs. They're owned by the same people, and it is supposedly "the best of both worlds".
And the faster results thing is really about how hard you push yourself. For fat burning, I would go with Insanity, but you really have to commit if you want to see results.

Done both, I prefer Insanity. Less equipment and it more cardio so you burn more fat in a shorter time. P90X is more weight training based so you gain muscle faster. Question is whether you are trying to lose a few extra pounds or gain tone and definition?
Well, I'm aiming for both actually, losing fat and gaining muscle. which is why I think I might need both. I don't know.
Go with insanity. It still tones you but its more useful if you are trying to lose weight.
Thnx! :)
Any kind of workout is going to work, so yes, insanity does work. Insanity will give you much faster results, but is a hell of a lot harder. Better is all based on preference. For men, I think insanity would be better because it builds muscle better than p90x, but p90x is still a really good program.
I think p90x is easier to stick with if you're not used to working out hardcore, but if you can toughen out insanity's workout then I think it would be better for you.
now, I do want to say that the building muscle with insanity was my own personal experience vs p90x. I workout a good amount and I like to use these different programs to see how they work, and for me I found that I ended up gaining muscle with insanity more so than with p90x.
That's interesting... everyone else has said the opposite of what you just stated.. where p90x is said to give more muscle and insanity burns off more fat... I guess it doesn't work the same for everybody.
P90X has incredible results. My college track team uses it and I have abs now. ABS! Which is awesome in itself. If you use P90X and exercise regularly for about a month, this will change you!
:) oooo Nice!
I hear insanity gives a really good workout, but I don't know for sure because I've never used it yet. BUT, I have used P90X and I really loved it and received great results quickly.
Nice, thnx!
I've heard Insanity is better and works in 60 days if you follow it properly.
Lifting weights tends to work the best. go get a power rack and start doing pushing some steel.
Insanity will give you faster results, but will be harder (Although both are f***ing hard).
As izzy said I liked insanity better since you use only your bodyweight. And I needed to shed some weight.
insanity workout is much better
Thank u!
