What is your view on stem cell research?

I personally think it's great. Stem cells can help people with cancer and other various diseases. And I just recently heard that they are looking into using it to help people with autism as well. Now I understand the negative views about getting stem cells directly from the embryo because iit has a high risk of damaging it which can lead to abnormalities of the child. But, that's not the only way the can get it. When a woman has a child there are stem cells in the cord blood. I don't see why someone would be against donating that, or even saving it for themselves in case something were to happen. its not like you were planning on doing anything with it, and if not they'll just throw it away. So what's your take on this?

I haven't done enough reading on stem cell reshearch to have an opinion, meaning I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to that. I am religious person however, and to the person that commented about the chick-fal-a comment, you are ignorant of what really happened. All he did was say he was against gay marriage, THAT'S IT! He voiced his opinion and everyone jumped down his throat as if he's not allowed to have one just because people disagreed. They blew what he said out of proportion and put words in his mouth to boot. So who's the wolve and who's the sheep here? My point being, do research into what really happened and don't make assumptions.

I do agree with you everyone has a right to believe in whatever they want to. The owner is allowed to be against gay marriage, but I think the fact that he is all for taking the money from gay people and then turning around and donating it to groups to get their rights taken away is ridiculous. I have read numerous things about the chick-fil-a incident and him just being anti gay marriage isnt' all he did.

Its mainly to prevent gay marriage illegal in most states, that what he is doing because he has a strong belief there. Because weather most people like it or not marriage is, and comes from a religious aspect hence they are normally held in church's, mosques or whatever. Which is why religious people are against it, marriage is said to be between a man and a women, its pretty clear there. That is my opinion on it and he just wants to keep the same marriage principles.

I am for stem cell research. While the religious owner of chick-fil-a is wasting his cash promoting anti-gay efforts, I am donating to a noble cause of curing cancer. I'm sure God looks more favorably upon me than the one in sheeps clothing.

I was been sarcastic about God looking favorably at me. I'm actually an atheist. I just think it necessary for religious people to realize how fragile their foundation is (like a house made of straw and built on sand).

For the intolerent anti religious crowd, I would just like to clear something up. There is no controversy about research involving all of the many types of stem cell research. In fact, the Catholic church has publicly supported adult and umbilical-cord stem-cell research, and church leaders were among the first to applaud the discovery of amniotic stem cells and to call for further research.

I don't think they should do the embryonic one as well, because of how high the risk of damaging the fetus in the process is. But I donated my daughters cord blood for stem cell research when she was born. And I'm glad that I could do a minor thing like that to help such research.
