Cutting out carbs diet and results?

Has anyone tried the low carb diet? What have been the results? That is cutting out things such as rice, bread, fatty/greasy foods, choc, all the goodies ... But still eating veggies, salad, meat, eggs and fruits. I've just started this. It's actually my first day today and there's a long way ahead lol. What kind of results should I be expecting, keeping in mind that I also spend about 2 hours at the gym a day?
