I'm a student in college right now trying to decide between going to medical school or PA school. I've got decent grades right now (3.7 come GPA), do a lot around school, work as a CNA, and I plan on doing research next year as a senior. But I have to decide pretty soon as I am a junior and will have to apply to schools this coming spring/summer whether it will be med or pa school. I've been told that most docs can choose what hours they want to work and same with PAs. I want to have a wife and family that I can spend a normal amount of time with. my only big uncertainty is if I can really do the doctor thing. but the deeper I dig in school the more I realize how much potential I have and what I'm good/bad at. I would hate to go to pa school and realize I had more potential than that and could help more people by being an MD. and I would hate to go to become a dr and not be any good at treating patients. advice?
I think you should take advantage of your potential, and give MD a shot. Every person persuing their dream career has uncertainties at whether or not they will be truly successful, but with the schooling, practice, and clinicals you'll be going through. Confidence is sure to come.
