Hanging out should have been the springboard to a closer bond, right?

Anonymous
I asked this girl to hang out one on one. We had been semi-friends for a long time, but she had been showing signs of attraction, so I went for it. We hung out. It was an okay time but I could tell I was way more invested in her than she was in me.

Regardless, hanging out should have made us closer right? Instead, we went the next several weeks without making eye contact and ignoring each other and that gradually evolved into indifference (we say hey when we see each other, don't talk).

I felt I gave away too much interest, which is why I held back. But she apparently didn't seem to care and is now indifferent. We're even less closer now than we were before the hangout. She tells random people more than she tells me. And it's been four months, so there's no point in bringing the hangout up anymore. What's up? This is like the opposite reaction.
