Is swelling normal for erupting wisdom teeth?

I can't chew on the one side of my mouth because I have a wisdom tooth coming it. It's the only one that's coming in, the others aren't. It's really swollen and is painful. I don't know if it's the tooth or if there's something wrong, but there's a lump on the one side under my gums where it's supposed to come through. There's not a lot of space in my mouth for a tooth so I am not sure if this is normal or if I should go to the dentist. My sister said hers was never swollen when she got hers in so this kind of worries me.

the swelling is normal but that is probably a result of impaction. You should schedule a dentist consult. Impacted death can cause a number of issues from infection to ruining the alignment of your teeth... not too mention a lot of pain.

good to hear. the procedure isn't too bad. The laughing gas is kind of fun and then they usually knock you out. You wake up about an hour later disoriented and sore but fine overrall. The worst part for me wasn't pain afterward but not being able to eat what I wanted for about 3-4 days while the sockets close/heal.

Im not really sure but you are going to need to get them out soon if they are hurting and getting in the way like that. My mouth was swollen after they came out for a few days but not while they were coming in.

Mine just finished doing this on one side and starting on the other. If you can go see the dentist, especially if they told you your mouth is too small to handle then sice they could end up shiftig your teeth!

Swelling is definitely normal, bits of bacteria get trapped inside and it can take your body a few days to fix it. Make sure you rinse with mouthwash before and after you get them removed to keep the swelling down!
