Your cardio should be walking only! Maybe like 30 to an hour a day. Walking levitates your heart rate as do jogging and does convert your body from burning glucose to fat by ketosis, however, you are not doing more joint damage and loss of bone tissue when walking as you do jogging. I recommend sprinting intervals once a week to build up those muscles and enhance performance. Exercising too much will throw your hormonal output out of whack and you could release more cortisol and gain weight in result. Also your weight is depended on your diet. It's not just about calories in and out as everybody thinks that's how it works, it's mostly about what you get from those calories!

Make sure you aren't just doing cardio as it can be counter productive if used in the wrong way. Doing cardio is a big part of losing weight but make sure your diet is right, you should get advice on that from someone who is qualified to do so, stay away from the internet on that one. Also make sure you do some weights and keep your strength levels high. If you just do heaps of cardio with a bad diet and no weights you will just burn off your muscle as it burns more quickly than fat in some situations.
You should do an hour a day, elliptical is OK but rowing machine (if done right) or treadmill are usually more effective.
Don't trust the calorie count on the machines and I'd be best to do intervals a few times a week. You don't need an HRM monitior simply go as fast as you can for one period and then go very slow for another period. repeat.
When you don't do intervals you'll have to try a bit but set yourself a goal. Like keeping up a certain speed at a certain resistance
Don't listen to the guy. An hour of cardio a day is good and I always set on the elptical. However you spell it. And the guy that commented has work to do himself he said they same damn thing to someone else's question not private. Sweetie what you want to do is fine

elliptical sucks sh*t but try it out and if your heart isn't pounding, you're not panting and sweat isn't running down your head, you're wasting your time.
by the way one pound of fat is 3500 calories and you probably use less than 2000 in a day. sucks doesn't it.Weight loss is a result of calorie deficit. Cardio is just a way of making it easier to achieve that.
It should be always every day and you'll see a difference soon enough
