Right now I go to the gym 2 or 3 days a week for cardio (45 mins)
and one day for upper and lower body toning.
Is that a good amount? should I increase?
The more you put in the more you will get out of it.
I'd do 3 days of cardio and 2 days of "body toning" which you can also do on cardio days right before you do cardio. You did not mention what kind of cardio activity ? I would switch it up between incline jogging and eliptical. Doing exercises that hit your lower body before a cardio session like running/jogging can have great results.
I also suggest you look into what type of movements and exercises you are doing. Machines in my opinion are not ideal although are easy and quick to learn.
I usually walk on the treadmill, go on the bike or do the elliptical. I have knee problems, so I am unable to jog.
I would say 3 days of cardio should be sufficient but you also need to keep to that diet. I'd step it up to 4 days a week at 45 minutes
Workouts are hard if your in good shape you can workout everyday but you have to make sure you do different muscle groups everyday you have to rest the muscle group after a work out otherwise it defeats the purpose
