Is MMA an "extreme sport"? If so, that would be my pick.
Despite what most people see it as, it really is a game of human chess on multiple dimensions. Not knocking boxing (because I also watch it at times), but boxing is a single dimensional of an entire breed of combat. MMA is not only more open-ended, but comprises of many different disciplines thrown in together.
I appreciate the training involved, the technique, the discipline and heart involved, the mental strength required, and basically I admire them just as anyone would admire a top level athlete of a different sort. Fighters train to a high level of physical and mental conditioning, and learn their discipline of fighting just as one would learn a new language.

I've gone skydiving and bungee jumping. I think skydiving is by far the most exhilarating thing a person can do. You can't hear anything except for the wind and it's pretty peaceful once you pull the chute and start floating down.
