What is the Christmas Train?

Since 2012 the first and original Christmas Train has been chugging along on various bands usually on the days of Christmas Eve (24 Dec) and Christmas (25 Dec) however, we are now operating the middle 2 weeks of the month 11 - 25 Dec.

The Christmas Train is a Virtual Train (not an actual train) whose purpose is to share with Amateurs the Kind, Good and Happy Spirit that the Christmas season brings. Now just to clarify (as I receive many questions as to where I am), although the Christmas Train is an actual locomotive on static display at Sunset Station in San Antonio Texas, I am here at my QTH in West Virginia.

Our hope is that this message will continue to resonate with us throughout the year and express itself especially on the Ham Bands.

Somewhat analogous to the Christmas Train (but on a much grander level) is the novella "A Christmas Carol" written by Charles Dickens in 1843. In that story the protagonist, Ebenezer Scrooge, ultimately personifies a caring, kind, good and generous man to his fellow man and represents the true Christmas Spirit. It is this type of spirit that the train wishes to emulate.
