yup. there are American exchange students ant my university. there's a guy that talks as loud as I shout and one girl burped at my face. the fact that she was fat as hell makes it even uglier and horrifying.
well duh, I mean, we're all by ourselves over here unless we fly to another country. Plus our mentality is that we are the best and fk everyone else which is wrong.
I don't know how it's in Russia, but here if you see some drunken, loud & rude lads in tracksuits who drink in public and tag walls, it's 95% chances that they'll be Russians.
I think so, yes. Americans aren't uncultured but we have many groups in our country and they all do different things so we're less clear cut than countries Europe.
Oh if we go by the correct definition of cultured then most likely.

Just another stereotype. I think we are pretty cultured in Canada. Over here people don't forget about their herritage as much as in the US, although that's a generalization. We tend to embrace Canadian culture while keeping our own heritage. People of different races here get along better than most countries and studies have shown that there is less racism here than anywhere else in the world! :)
Southern people are not the same as Bostonian are not the same as Texans are not the same as New Yorkers are not the same as Californians are not the same as Minnesotans... getting it? We are far from 1 nation here bub otherwise we couldn't be so deadlocked in congress
Ok but don't think 1 nation = 1 custom. Also in our nations beginning it was thought that each state represented a different nation and that the U.S. became a nation of several nations bound together.
Inside European countries there are huge differences too: many countries have regions with greater or smaller autonomy: In Germany Bayern will be very different from Hamburg or Berlin. In Spain, Andalusia, Catalunya, Bask country (Euzkadi) have their own state government, often speak a different language. Same in Switzerland : they have three languages: German, French and Italian, divided over a number of 'cantons' with great autonomy.
Belgium has three regions (Brussels Capital, Flanders and Wallonia) and three languages (Dutch,in Flanders and 8% of Brussels French in Wallonia and German in a small part of Wallonnia. It took one and a half year to agree on a government this time) You Americans never heard about Belgium, except their chocolate? Yes, you did. An over enthusiast Belgian made a little patriotic movie: link
Then you should have seen how many museums they have, architecture and heard the story which is behind each monument or area. America was built by hardworking men and women who tried to achieve their American dream. Majority of them people who moved to America were low and middle class from Europe. Where in Europe have you been?
All buildings are 'architecture'. The U.S. has fantastic depression era skysrapers, modernist ones from the 1950's, etc. Maybe they are not to your taste (or mine) but they are still part of 'culture'.
I don't know about Canadians .Canadians are very cultured..This comparison is kind of racist. There are cultured and uncultured Americans as well as Europeans.
That's a load of barnacles. It all depends on the individual. That's like saying Americans are fat and British people have bad teeth. It's just a stereotype people repeat to poke fun at each other.

Fat as hell ? Meet our new minister Maggie Deblock: link She'll be the responsible minister for Asylum, Immigration and Social Integration.
well duh, I mean, we're all by ourselves over here unless we fly to another country. Plus our mentality is that we are the best and fk everyone else which is wrong.
Maybe, except Russians, the British, Italians, Hungarians, Romanians, Greeks, Baltic States and Poland.
Emm.. what's left then?
The French, Scandinavia, Spain and some more.
So in general... yes, still more cultured than Americans!
U mean russians and those in line are less cultured?
I don't know how it's in Russia, but here if you see some drunken, loud & rude lads in tracksuits who drink in public and tag walls, it's 95% chances that they'll be Russians.
Don't judge the nation by a small number of people. Russians, brits, italians and greeks have some of the richest cultures in Europe.
Russians or Englishmen or Dutchmen...
I think so, yes. Americans aren't uncultured but we have many groups in our country and they all do different things so we're less clear cut than countries Europe.
Yes we Europeans are more cultured! I think this is a truism.
USA, this is a mixing of all Europeans, so it`s only a kind of eclectizism. (you can also say it`s a patchwork blanket)
It's interesting how we can use the same evidence to reach opposite conclusions.
Oh if we go by the correct definition of cultured then most likely.

But actually how can you compare a whole continent with a country?
When the country you're talking about is the size of said continent...
not the same. there are many countries in Europe with different customs and things like that. Americans are 1 nation while Europeans are many nations
Southern people are not the same as Bostonian are not the same as Texans are not the same as New Yorkers are not the same as Californians are not the same as Minnesotans... getting it? We are far from 1 nation here bub otherwise we couldn't be so deadlocked in congress
we also have devision in the countries bub + there are many countries

thank you jacquesvol !
Europe has a very rich culture. As a child you absorb all that atmosphere into you. Have you ever been to Europe?
Yes, I have.
Then you should have seen how many museums they have, architecture and heard the story which is behind each monument or area. America was built by hardworking men and women who tried to achieve their American dream. Majority of them people who moved to America were low and middle class from Europe. Where in Europe have you been?
I did and I have seen alot. I just asked this question to hear from you guys :)
All buildings are 'architecture'. The U.S. has fantastic depression era skysrapers, modernist ones from the 1950's, etc. Maybe they are not to your taste (or mine) but they are still part of 'culture'.
On a whole Americans are much less cultured than most Europeans.
Excellent answer, well put ;O)
I don't know about Canadians .Canadians are very cultured..This comparison is kind of racist. There are cultured and uncultured Americans as well as Europeans.
How is it racist?
stereotyping is racist. Profiling is racist.
no matter who you are, what your heritige is, where you are from...
it all depends on how you were raised.
sounds really poor, like a saying : if minus or plus my friend,
is showing the end
im American and id say yes every European I've met is really classy stylish and elegant from their accent to manners to style which I adore :)
European men are also quite nicer than American men they still follow chivalry and proper manners
in a way we are... but accent kills us lol I'm a European and I hate my accent!
well, I'm Canadian, but I do have some European backgrounds.
My mom's side of the family is 100% European. They're very very cultured, and very proper.
so yes, I do believe they're more cultured.
That's a load of barnacles. It all depends on the individual. That's like saying Americans are fat and British people have bad teeth. It's just a stereotype people repeat to poke fun at each other.
If by "cultured" you mean in the same way cheese is "cultured", then yes.
They all need to take more showers over there.
I guess you've met the wrong Europeans then...
Everyone is more cultured than Americans especially when it comes to drinking
which is why European youths celebrate their 21 birthdays (even though they can legally drink at 18) due to it being an American landmark
please. travel some before you talk out of your ass.
Ive traveled plenty plus I'm foreign so shove it
I suppose it depends on your point of view. We all can't generalise. It just appears like Americans are less cultured.
I think it's bullsh*t, just because they TOK LIKE THES doesn't mean they are more cultured
They talk like that because most Europeans are multilingual and English is their second or third language...so yes, more cultured.
that didn't make sense
Kereru, excellent comment well put
u guys are lame
i feel like they're more formal in everything and Americans are more casual. but I wouldn't say formal equals cultured
