“It’s just a girl harmonizing with her kitchen fan”

There is a popular sound on tiktok of a girl harmonizing with a kitchen fan. I have listened to it over and over again because it struck me so hard. This is what it sounds like to me:

I’m 10 and it’s spring time at the old house. I’ve just been walking my dog barefoot down our dirt road and made it back to our front yard. I’m laying down in the thick Bermuda grass under one of our many orange trees. They are in bloom and the sticky scent of the sweet orange blossoms is cascading over me. I close my eyes and feel the warm sun peeking through the leaves of the tree and tingling my skin. The neighbors have a sprinkler running in the distance and I can hear the kids laughing and shrieking as they jump through it. There is a light breeze that washes over me with desert mountain air. In a moment I hear the ticking of bicycle gears and the slight crunch of the dirt under its tires as someone rides past our house and then following the sound of clomping horse hooves in the dirt as the neighbors ride by. I’m craving something sweet so I run inside to ask if my siblings and I can walk down to our favorite ice-cream shop for some shaved ice. We walk in our sandals over the dirt roads and hold hands to cross the street. Nothing bad has ever happened to us and our little world is like paradise.
