Even if the 6' guy is skinny, he can gain muscle anytime he wants while I can't gain height to be like him.
Why do short guys even lift?
Even if the 6' guy is skinny, he can gain muscle anytime he wants while I can't gain height to be like him.
Short guys actually have an advantage in lifting competitions since their arm lengths are shorter thus having to move the weight for less of a distance. Not everyone lifts weights for aesthetics. Some actually do it for their health and well-being.
I also hear criticisms from women all the time about ripped guys being too lean. Not every girl likes that look. There's a lot of talk about how unhealthy being below 10% body fat is also. Mosta those guys who get on stage only get that lean for that short moment of fame then go back to their "off season look."
As for the height, there really are girls who date shorter guys. I see couples who are in such height ranges. While I don't see a girl dating a shorter guy as much it still does happen. If a girl is that caught up with dating a 6ft guy she's dating for the wrong reasons and she'll just find herself unhappy in the relationship she does get into. It'd be like dating a guy for his money. She'll have a short term happiness followed by a long unhappy relationship unfulfilled and unable to understand why. At least it doesn't have to be your problem.
I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but there actually -aren't- enough 6', muscular, good dancer, good looking, good job, charismatic, funny and decent guys out there for all the womens.
So, you know, they prioritize. And they all make different priorities.
For what it's worth, I can barely gain any muscle, at all, even eating perfectly and doing well designed barbell programs and taking core supplements. I expect with steroids I could, but... yeah. If that helps you feel better at all :p
Work the advantages you have, minimize the disadvantages, and you'll be a pretty appealing guy to plenty of women.
Not true at all, my fiance is 5'5 and a little chunky but his chunkyness is like fat mixed with muscle. Lol like fat but its not a sloppy jiggly fat like you can tell he actually has muscles under his fat.
he lifts weights as well as other excercises because he cares about his health and it makes him feel good. Not because of what other guys think and definitely not becasue of what i think because I love him the way that he is but I also would love him in any shape because i fell in love with him, his spirit, not his body. Excercise is recomended for everyone because of its health benefits and he and i enjoy working out together.
That is some jacked up logic right there. So, no one is perfect. So let's not do anything to better ourselves. Ever. Because we can't possibly achieve perfection. Hell, work what your mama gave ya! That 5'6" guy will look more muscular because of the smaller frame and is almost guaranteed to have a better ground game
Because maybe they do it for themselves? Maybe they want to improve their health and fitness? Maybe we all should just stop comparing ourselves to others?
We all seem to have such low self-esteem on Gag! :c
Competing with others will make you bitter. Competing with yourself will make you better.
You're either competing with others or a loser
@Bluemax well, look at some of these short guys who are becoming bitter. Look at the nearly every question on Gag about body part size. Even look at outside IRL. People coming up with "cute" little slogans. "Real men want meat/curves, dogs go for bones." "If he doesn't like thick, he has a small dick." "Fit>skinny". Constantly, it's people competing and comparing that it's no wonder people hate themselves. A little competition can help. But people are going overboard now, it's ridiculous.
Basta Ya!
@asker, ok. You won't listen to anyone. FIne. Go on with yo bad self if you think you're always right.

Dumbest thing I've read. You do realize that shorter men tend to be more athletic and on average have stronger legs right?
The most dangerous fighters in the world aren't heavyweights, but the lighterweight classes where speed is combined with technique and power.
I do jiu-jitsu and the first thing you learn and quickly realize when training with taller dudes is that on the ground their height is actually a DISADVANTAGE.
Secondly, the perception of "alpha" has nothing to do with height. It really depends on the INDIVIDUAL and aura that they walk around with. I've seen plenty of goofy looking tall dudes who lack confidence, vice versa, short dudes who have enormous confidence.
Sounds like a 5'3 dude whooped your ass.

I'm 5"9 ish 5"10 ish and I lift to become more aesthetic. What you fail to realize is that there comes a time when a girl is doing something and a shorter male like myself might approach her and get to know her. It gets better. The two connect and the girl realizes she has never met a guy like this before. To make it even better, he's ripped!
Now imagine he was unaesthetic. She would probably still date him, but isn't it a lot easier for the guy and better for the girl when he is aesthetic? Confidence for the guy and a great body for the girl? Just my theory.
They do so for a myriad of reasons. They want to be healthy. They want the confidence. They do so for the psychological benefits that exercise brings.
They also do it because they realize that a ripped 5'6" guy is more attractive than a doughy 5'6" guy.
and less attractive than a ripped 6' guy
On average the tall man will always have an advantage
Most CEO's are above 6 feet, more successful managers are tall. More successful people are better looking
You can't get away from it...
BUT what a shorter man can do to look pretty damn sexy is work on body composition. SO basically get well proportionate muscles everywhere and don't gain too much chuck, Keep it lean and sexy
IT will still put you ahead of the pack by a bit
Is this why the short guys at the gym would grill me? I always thought it was just because I wasn't the typical gym dude.
Also to answer your question most girls have a height preference but it isn't a law. Most don't reject someone solely for their height. Ask yourself would you really wanna be with someone like that anyway?
Height is certainly not everything. I know there are more important traits in a guy that I like. Sure, having a guy taller than me (I'm 5'3) would be great, but that doesn't mean short guys (as perceived by society) are less alpha than their taller counterparts.
Cause ill do whatever the fuck I want cause I'm my own person. Judge not lest ye be judged. I can't wait till the sky falls and hits all you tall fucks in the head lol. Why are tall people always hitting there head on shit haven't they learn to fucking duck. I'm guessing from you question you been forgetting to duck and hit your head one to many time lol? To answer you question because lifting feels good!
alpha male only has to do with height? no it doesn't
is working out done for the sole purpose of being appealing to women? also no
even a 6ft guy who is skinny can gain muscle anytime he wants? also a no
there is a lot wrong with your premise, arguments, etc. not all people can pack on tons of muscle. not all people want to be an "alpha male". not all women are attracted to "alpha males". not all men work out only to impress women. being six feet and built doesn't make you an alpha male.
Waaaa, waaaa, waaaa, waaaaa... Another whiny post about men's height again. For like the millionth time this year only!!!
another useless reply from the opinion owner, well you already did waste your time
I think the asker is more likely to listen to me when I don't adopt the tone you have adopted. Do I think it's likely he'll listen to me? I think the odds are slim at best. However, do I think it's likely he'll listen to you? I put the odds at less than zero. Furthermore, you must realize that in a public forum, you're not just speaking to the asker and me. You're speaking to many more, some of whom might have similar opinions to the asker, but shall we say more borderline and more willing to listen. Your response is useless to them as well. What exactly to you hope to achieve in saying "Waaaa, waaaa, waaaa, waaaaa... Another whiny post about men's height again?" Do you think this is wisdom? Is it somehow productive?
@Bluemax: just wanted to show the asker and every one else that this type of questions is so annoying, it has become like a penis size question for me. Worse, even. Because the users who ask these questions are so obsessed with it that they ask about it about 50 times each. And apparently, at least 5 users agree with me. I wish people would just stop obsessing about height and be so negative. Being shorter than 6' is not a big deal. That negative and annoying attitude is what makes these guys unable to get girls.
If all you wanted to do was to express your annoyance, then mission accomplished. It does make me wonder why you even clicked on the question if you are annoyed by it.
"That negative and annoying attitude is what makes these guys unable to get girls."
That's the wisest thing you've said yet. This is considerably more helpful than "Waaaa, waaaa, waaaa, waaaaa... Another whiny post about men's height again"
Yeah my mission is accomplished all right lol
I've written that on other similar questions in the past. But did anyone listen? No, they always stay on their mindset and negativity. And questions like these keep on coming like winter on game of thrones. I tried to help, but these guys don't seem to want to be helped. So I got tired of trying to help when all they do is counter me and make my mood foul. So I expressed my annoyance instead.
Actually most women don't care for ripped guys. You can go to any body building forum, and there will be tons of ripped, decent looking guys, who can't get a girlfriend, even though they are in shape, have money, nice cars, etc. In my experience most men who devote so much time to things like weight lifting are deep down insecure about their appearance and/or strength. Insecurity repels women. They can smell it a mile away.
You are implying that men choose to strengthen their bodies based on their insecurities and worries about others perceptions of them?
That's not why I do it, I do it simply because being strong is better than being weak, period. I could give two shits about what others perceive of me. I demonstrate my "alpha-ness" through my character and through my actions.
Dude, dont worry about height. Im 6' so i can't say i know your position, but i have a lot of shorter friends who work out and they do just fine. Keep up with it. If you let it bother you, it will show.
Some short guys just like to fitter and tougher.
They're not concerned about taller men who are weak puppies.
One of the hottest guys at my school is only 5'6 and he's muscular
and lemme tell you...
he's SO FREAKING HOT
but you know people do things for themselves right?
picture/
Personally, I'd rather have a 5'6" skinny guy than any of those other options. I'm not attracted to big muscles or tall guys.
Why?
What ethnicity are you?
If you want to be perceived as 'more alpha' you could stop whining about being short. That would be a good start.
That's crap lol. I love some of the short ripped guys at my gym. They're hot.
how short? you tell this to get symphaty from short man on this site lol
Lol. I'm 5'2" so any guy 5'4" or taller is fine with me and I prefer my guys to be very fit.
Do you call this logic? Because if so, you are mistaken.
Easier tI get ideal body when smaller though, like being tall and putting on muscle is a pain since we ga in muscle at a relatively simiale rate but I have a larger frame to fill out
Lol! Yeah a lot of short guys are ripped but, if they want to do that and it makes them happier and confident its cool :) if a girl likes a guy she likes a guy regardless of height :p
