+1 yAs long as they meet the same physical standards as the men that do. The reason being is that if an injured 220lb guy needs to be evacuated off of the front line, if she can't lift him and carry him, he's as good as dead. The magic of machine guns and the iron will some military women have can only go so far.
Personally, I think women would be much more helpful as snipers, operators, and other support roles. The reason why is for every "front line" soldier there is fighting, you need 2 more doing support work behind the line to keep things going.
Russia used women as snipers in WWII because of their patience, which is essential if you have to wait several hours for a target. They also used them as fighter pilots. In fact, women are naturally better fighter pilots than men becuase of their higher blood pressure. All of those G-Forces fighter pilots experience can cause them to blackout, which higher blood pressure helps prevent. Even then all of those planes, tanks, etc. need maintenance. Why not just teach a lot of women how to be mechanics/electricians and keep war technology working?
Again, if a woman is physically tough enough as the guys, why hold her back? Women that meet those standards should be allowed to fight on the front lines. However, I think most women would much more helpful in the support scheme of things.10 Reply

+1 yThere were around 2000 documented women who fought in the American Civil War disguised as men. Some were found out by accident, others after being wounded or killed. Irish immigrant Jennie Hodgers (under the alias Albert Cashier) served valiantly through the entire war (in about 40 battles), continued living as a man after the war (probably due to the freedom she had) and was only discovered to be a woman in 1912 when she was struck by a car. She was placed in an asylum, but she received a veteran's pension after being questioned in court. Many of her former comrades testified on her behalf, saying that they were surprised to find out she was a woman. When she died, she received a full military burial.

Women also served in combat roles in World Wars 1 and 2 in the Russian army.

There were quite a few notable female Russian snipers in WW2.41 Reply- +1 y
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing
I think nobody should have to go to war, i mean it's bad enough the concept of money has to exist and holds greats power over all of us... if we don't have a job... we die... but to put us in debt by spending billions on wars... and whatever dirty things they do... it's ridiculous... nobody should have to leave their families and friends being sent to their deaths... they never know if they are going to die or survive... anything could happen... it's jsut awful.

I am on the front lines every day. Doing combat with the Steelswarm and the Burning Abyss, to prove the supremacy of my Lady Noellia and the Fish Cult of the Aquamirror over the traitorous hordes of the Mistvalley Marshlands.

The plain fact is that most women are not physically capable of dealing with many of the requirements of combat, imagine a combat unit where you had soldiers that you couldn't order to do what you need them to do because they are physically incapable of doing it efficiently or even at all.
Add that to the fact that it's going to be a simple instinct for many male soldiers to protect female soldiers, and now they're also a distraction.
Let's keep simple and just send guys to die horribly ok?13 Reply- +1 y
Good answer.

Women fought in combat in the American Civil War, World War 1, and World War 2.

Though for what it's worth, in the Civil War, they were disguised as men.
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yWell I'll keep it short... if women want equality, then fight for it. I'm tired of double standards. This is not a feminism issue just a sense of equality and reason. You want to be just like men in all ways... wages, respect etc... then put in the same amount of work.

Here is my opinion about equal wages...
A man and a woman get paid the same. They do the same work, 8 hours, 5 days a week. But then, the woman gets pregnant. She is still able to get her work done. But then there are times when she can't make it to work due to morning sickness. Then she has to leave early for her daily checkups. Then she finally gives birth. Of course she takes leave. She still getting paid the same amount as the man. Well, the man has been to work every single day. He has babies too, but no one is giving him 6 weeks off...
Just think about that...
Opinion Owner+1 yExactly... If you gave me the opportunity to be a significant part of my baby's life I would never say no but apparently women can do that with rewards. What's worse is that some women will hold it over men's heads for taking care of their baby for longer etc... In some countries, they are now going as far as giving women menstrual leave with pay. All these things are shifting a balance but not in a equal setting.

I haven't taken off work because of a period. Periods shouldn't even be considered an excuse off work. when my period bothers me, I suck it up and continue working. Yes my period makes me topple over in pain, but I wouldn't let it effect my work.
+1 yI am personally in the infantry and I do not know very many women that could pull someone injured in full kit behind cover. If they could meet the same physical standards and do what is expected of the typical infantryman I would have no problem with it.

+1 yI believe that they could fight on the front lines and could handle what that comes with. On the other hand I don't think they should if only because if a war was long enough that a nation had a huge population drop it would require more women to survive in order to recover from it more quickly.
And here is where I get called sexist.00 ReplyI think that women should be able to fight on the front line (if they pass the exact same tests men do). Under one condition, that if a female soldier were to be captured and tortured that she would get the same amount and quality of rescue attempt as any male soldier would get. Because as we all know women are valued higher than men in some respects, if a beautiful women were captured she would get an unfair amount of attention to be saved in my opinion than an equally handsome man.

+1 ySome women have already served throughout history as fighters, so yes. However, I believe a lower percentage of girls would be willing to do the 'dirty work' in comparison to men.

+1 yI think they might be too much of a distraction to them men but I think women are physically capable yes.
I just think it's enough that people's fathers, sons and brothers die in war without their mothers, daughters and sisters dying too.00 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yWomen should not fight on the front lines because they would endanger the lives of others. Any weak link on the front line compromises the safety of everyone else.
Most guys who answer yes to this question are just motivated by the fact that this topic is an example of how women get a pass. Equal rights and liberties without equal responsibility. And so it goes.02 Reply- +1 y
See my comment.
Opinion Owner+1 yYour point seems to be that there are examples of women who have fought on the front lines. So what? All you can do is make assumptions about what actually happened. You have no way of knowing how many men were injured or killed because they were "backed up" by women rather than more capable men.
Actually in HS I considered the military, yes I am small or whatever but I REALLY wanted to at that point in my life. I do think women are capable and could fight on the front line.
00 ReplyWomen should be required to die just as much if the draft ever occurs again

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yTwo of my sisters and I served under our mother command in a reconnaissance unit. We were usually sent to gather intelligence for the special forces. Once they arrived we would leave the place, although sometimes we provided sniper support.
