Why do guys so fiercely hold on to the outdated notion of gender roles and women needing to serve them?

Don't get me wrong, I know it's not all guys. I am just curious about the ones who do. For you is it just a power trip thing and the need to feel control? Is it just the ease of not having to do things for yourself? Is it a learned behavior from how you were raised? I'm genuinely curious.

My dad was very much this way and I hated it. My brothers ended up learning those traits while I fought against them. I think it should be an equal give and take in all aspects of a marriage.

I think that's a little presumptuous to think that women look for someone who makes more when in I would feel they are looking more for someone to be a partner with.

I have loved having conversations with all of you on this topic! Not all of them ended with a mutual understanding, but I do hope we can see that open dialogue is not a bad thing. I have been doing my best to respond to everyone on here and if I missed you, I am very sorry. It wasn't that your opinion was any less valid, I just have been at this all day and missed it by accident. Thank you all so much for your participation on this and I hope all of you have a wonderful day!
