The concept is simple really. Your DISC personality type is measured on a plane, with the vertical axis denoting whether you are more outgoing (up) or more reserved (down), and the horizontal axis denoting whether you are more task-oriented (left) or people-oriented (right).
If you are in the top left quadrant, you fall in the "Dominant" category. The D personality style is often direct and decisive. They would prefer to lead than follow, and lean towards leadership and management positions. They tend to have high self-confidence and are risk takers and problem solvers, which enables others to look to them for decisions and direction. They are self-reliant, but feel threatened by authority and can be defiant.
If you are in the top right quadrant, you fall in the "Influential" category. The I personality style is not afraid to be the center of attention. They are enthusiastic, optimistic, talkative, persuasive, impulsive, and emotional. This personality type trusts others naturally, truly enjoys being around others, and functions best when around people and working in team.
If you are in the bottom right quadrant, you fall in the "Stabilized" category. The S personality type is known for being steady, stable, and predictable. They are even-tempered, friendly, sympathetic with others, and very generous. The S is understanding and listens well. Preferring close, personal relationships, the S is generally very open with loved ones, but can also be possessive at times and hold them close.
Finally, if you are in the bottom left quadrant, you fall in the "Cautious" category. The C personality style is accurate, precise, detail-oriented, and conscientious. They think very analytically and systematically and make decisions carefully with plenty of research and information to back it up. The C has very high standards for both themselves and others. Because they focus on the details and see what many other styles do not, they tend to be good problem solvers.
I'm either C or D, while I generally don't feel any special need to be a leader, I tend to naturally fall into that position as I get frustrated by others being either indecisive or inefficent, so I start calling the shots to get things moving along. I consider myself to be self-confident and self-reliant, but I have no problems with authority, as I'm working in the military, and don't feel the need to defy others in authority or trying to lead nor do I consider myself to take that many risks. While I think that most of what is contained in C is accurate for, except for maybe not being so detail oriented.
So generally speaking I think I'm somewhere close to the C/D border region, edging on the C side.
Sounds more C to me. Cs can sometimes accidentally wind up in positions of authority because they tend to take charge of a project for the simple reason that they can run the show better or more efficiently than everyone around them can.
I see myself as the C variant. But if I read all descriptions carefully, I can see myself as a S too. I'm a bit of both. Reserved for sure. But the last piece of evidence I can give, is that for me, it's mostly easier to do my job or task, than to talk to some people. That makes me more task oriented.
Yeah, no one is exclusively one of these, everyone is a unique blend of them, but usually have one that's predominant. You are a crazy pug lady though, I agree.
When I need outside assistance on something that I simply can't accomplish alone, I'm usually tends towards an "I" and can sometimes be manipulative if I fail to disclose my intentions. When I feel empowered to do stuff on my own, I fall into "D". When I encounter a problem I don't readily have a solution to, I fall into "C". When I'm feeling passionate, charitable, and willing to educate/instruct others, I gravitate towards "S".
And sometimes, those characteristics jump around. Like, if you lead by example "D", you inspire and persuade others "I" when they witness your driven success. And sometimes you can be amiable "S" by incorporating a reserved, analytical approach "C" like when working in teams.
I'd incorporate it into the the the last 3 steps of the OODA feedback loop for decision making. Observe, Orient, Decide, Act.
Generally, I prefer if everyone tries to aim leftward as much as they can and occasionally coordinate together to achieve tremendous results. I'd rather people were more reliable than reliant. And those on the left can be a "people" person in their own way by figuratively extending their hand to those on the right to help pull them across.
I guess that's one abstract way of looking at it. Altruism, extropy, optimism, and felicifics are the guiding lights I try to balance, hypothetically.
