Why is he so concerned for me?

My boyfriend smokes weed a LOT. I've never tried it, but I want to, and when I told him that I wanted to smoke with my friends he got upset, stating that he doesn't agree with it and doesn't want me to do it. He didn't even give me a reason for why I shouldn't.

Is this hypocritical of him? I don't understand why he's so concerned about me smoking when he does it all the time. It shouldn't be that big a deal, right? What should I do?

well if you want to smoke maybe you should try smoking with him.

also, it is VERY hypocritical of him, and maybe he's up to something when he smokes that he doesn't want you to do. people get stupid on drugs, and maybe he doesn't want you in certain situations he gets in when he's high.

ive had this happen, an ex didn't want me smoking because he was worried id cheat on him if I was high, but he was just insecure because he would get high with other girls, and didn't want me doing the same with other guys.

do you know the people he smokes with?

and if you really want to smoke with you friends you should assure him there is nothing to worry about.

if he still disagrees, tell him that he can't smoke if you cant, and if he can't respect that or what you want to do in general, then maybe you need a new boyfriend.

he's being hypocritical. maybe he regrets starting smoking but still as long as he smokes he needs to shut his pie hole lol, especially if he can't even articulate himself why he doesn't want you to do it. I mean, its your lungs if you wanna smoke then smoke. if he gets mad tell him to stop it because he has no right

Despite what some people say, weed can get very addictive (like any drug). Clearly he understands some of the risks and concerns and doesn't want you to fall into the same trap he has. However, he's too scared/weak/whatever to actually stop using it himself...

What if she ATE her weed? =P LOL, just curious, but why is it unattractive for a girl to smoke weed? I would understand if you didn't like weed. But I've read where you've said you smoke sometimes, so if you liked a girl, you wouldn't want her included in that aspect of your life at all? I was just wondering, because personally I would find it illogical in a relationship to dislike your partner doing something that you yourself enjoy doing. Like I would want to be able to share that.
