I once heard "we love what we think we deserve". Then I heard something else "love is what you make it."
Clearly these two statements go hand and hand within each other.
I am now up to 9 ex boyfriend's and of those 9 , 4 ex fiancee's.
I noticed I was only making excuses for them, trying to see past the red flags and all the more learned that I do deserve a good man, who will accept me for me. Not create this fantasy he made up in his head about me and what he thinks I should be. That's not fair to my authentic self. Actually, it hurts her.
It has done the damage. It took me years to realize that not all of us can be the same or want the same things in life, that sometimes they change their minds. If they choose their route, then I have to accept this and move forward with my life.

It may sound weird but on the one hand I know I could find someone who can/will accept me just as I am... but I would never want to be in that kind of relationship. I don't want my partner to be content with me just being me, flaws and all. I want my partner to be the kind of person who lovingly and respectfully draws me towards being better than I am. I know I have a lot of flaws but I want to grow past those flaws as much as I can, and I want someone who pulls me towards doing that.

So while you can totally find someone like that, I don't think it's a good thing to strive after.

I guess no one likes a kind guy, empathetic to others do charities. Girls see those kind of men as weak and not manly.
My original personality was like that. But people tend to use those kind of people and forget them after that.
I helped one friend ( girl) when she was sexually abused , cared for her when she was sick , cooked for her and helped in studies. I fell in love with her. When I told her. She said no , that's ok. But she also told me guys like me have only value when girls start for looking for husband's and my talents in music , literature , science , intelligence don't matter to anyone and since I was a virgin , I was immature. She wanted a more manly man. I really cried one time in front of her because she was crying too and telling that she will commit suicide. She told me guys that cry and that like are immature. Somewhat she was not wrong I guess guys don't cry and I realized no one's going to love me for who I am , cause I am single for 24 years. I guess my personality is my problem.
