What do you think your IQ is?

As high as I'd like mine to be, I wouldn't be surprised if I was average or even a bit lower. I think I'm probably around 110ish. But take this with a grain of salt because it's only based on anecdotal evidence... However, I still think it would be pretty cool to actually know my general placement in the near future so that I can have a better idea of what hierarchies would be good for me to climb. If I had to guess, I’m likely slightly above average IQ, but I’ve applied myself more than a good amount of people. I took various studies within school seriously, and this helped me with things like achieving decent grammar, problem solving, and other important skills. From that, I earned straight A’s up through high school, minus the occasional B in college. Calculus 2 was the only class I truly struggled with and thought, “I almost don’t feel smart enough to understand some of this stuff.”

From a natural-gift standpoint, I’m certainly no genius. A lot of my “skill points” (if you could call them that) were allocated to music and my hobbies, where I am decently proficient in them. Those don’t particularly require high intelligence though. I’ve met true geniuses in life, and I learned quickly I’m not one of the chosen in that regard.

I don’t really pay a whole lot of attention to something like IQ, because I think half of life is applying yourself rather than your natural intelligence. Life isn’t always like school where you “have” to take a test and you get what you get. Real life careers often require a certain level of independence and motivation to do well in them. I’ve met decently smart people in life who go absolutely nowhere, because they have 0 aspirations. They spend their life wasting away, since no one tells them what to do. It doesn’t matter what IQ the person has in a situation like that.

Similar to IQ, having a social element will also help you achieve your goals. I’d rather have a high social ability and average IQ than vice versa. It will help you advance your career a lot easier, since companies are more than one person. If you’re working in a team, communication is of essence.

In summary, many factors render the number of IQ rather obsolete. A high IQ helps— definitely, but it’s not the end-all, be-all.

Well... Ok,
I have tested my IQ different times at different sites and languages, and it's solid pretty much around 120.

Now as far as self esteem goes, I think that intelligence just as well as physical attractiveness are things that we mostly get born with, and we always want people to centralise their positive illusions around things they can accomplish.
Therefore I can't help but remember Dr. Stephen Hawking [RIP], when was asked about his IQ he replied "I don't know, but people who brag about their IQ are stupid",... He was 160 like Einstein.

And still by the end of it I say to myself, whoever designed an IQ test, is still not spared from human flows, he is still relatively intelligent to design a test to grade us, - unless he is God almighty lol- but since we're all relative to one another that's a test that's still I think quite relative to the intelligence of its designer not to absolute intelligence. That's why I low IQ scores shouldn't feel bad about it. To be fair.

Because I won't forget also Dr. Neil Tyson when he explained on a cosmic scale how intellectually similar we are indeed with apes! And as long as we all look at it this way, then we mostly certainly overestimate our intelligence over one another.

I. Q. is simply a statistical distribution defined with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 16 for the more well known Stanford-Binet scale.

Thus, it can be applied to just about any scholastic or intelligence test by first figuring out your percentile and then projecting it onto the distribution. Anyone who claims they have an IQ over 195 is lying because there are not enough people in the world to put you in a high enough percentile to make that score. Only 1 in 10,000 even have a score as high as 160.
I measured around 150 in college and high school, which is about 1 in 1,000 but since I am lazy and never really had to work for anything academically, I never really amounted to much.
I. Q. means a whole lot less than work ethic.

Whenever I do those tests online I always get a different score. My last result was 134, but the numbers are largely meaningless in any case, because those tests don't really measure intelligence anyway. All they truly measure is one's ability to complete an IQ test.

I have absolutely no idea. Never been tested.

All I can say is I've always been the fastest student with the highest scores in school. While never studying 1 bit or doing homework. EVER.

Though, in college, i did do my homework but that's besides the point!

When I was in the military, they would give us these tests before we deployed. It's onlyto give a reference to your mental ability before deploying so that when you come home, you test again and they can see how you may have been effected by a blast or chemical or who knows what.

I finished that test in like 15 minutes. Took everyone else 45 mins minimum. The tester looked at me like I was insane to be done.

Story of my life. Always finish first. Always high scores.

But i mean, it's not like I went super high in any area. Like i have yet to become a physicist for example. though i do plan to go to school for physics.

I think I'm smart enough. But I dont think I'm a genius at all. I think people are affected by their lives and experiences in such a way that you could never know a person's true mental potential.

I'm lucky in brain stuff. Cuz I had zero friends in my childhood to adulthood.

All I did was read all day every day for my entire childhood. I'm surethat shit helped me a lot in school.

Some kids parents berate them and tell them they are stupid. How much was that persons IQ changed because of that?

I think IQ scores are meaningless. Too many resources have shown the IQ test's deficiencies and they are many.

I took 2 actual IQ tests - once as a junior and once as a senior in HS. It's been 30+ years, but I believe the results were 137 and 142. I also tested in the 99th percentile.

Having said that, I've met at least a dozen people who, after short conversations, I immediately thought "this person is definitely smarter than I am!"

I worked with a former Navy SEAL during my IT career, who, among a number of other things, told me his wife and daughter both teased him because he was the only one in the family without a PhD (he had 3 Masters). His PhD dissertation was, as I understand it, a new method for optimizing the distribution of processing tasks of Linux Beowulf clusters (super-computers made from hundreds of less powerful computers working together), and he got his PhD. He could talk on almost any subject, at any level of complexity, and without making you feel stupid. That's something I'm good at - and get complimented on - but he was SO good at it that I couldn't help but to feel a bit slow when I was talking to him. Yet, he had no problems with social skills - he was comfortable talking to anyone.

Being around people like that is definitely humbling! Yet I have nothing bad to say about him at all - he was a great guy.

I've been told that my IQ is quite high. I've taken a few official tests over the years, when they have been included among other tests, for various reasons. I was also invited to join Mensa a couple of times, too.

As for the actual number, though; I have no clue. I've never wanted to know. I've been offered, but have declined every time, because I don't think it's relevant. A person can have an incredibly high IQ, but no common sense, or have a crappy work ethic, etc.

I don't intend to crap all over the idea of IQ scores, or IQ, in general; I've just never found it to be relevant, especially to myself. Knowing my score won't change anything, except possibly make me arrogant, so I have no reason to know what it is. 🤷‍♂️

I used to be a Mensa member in Japan (above 150 on the official Mensa test) but I never felt smart like some of the other members I met. I think I just have a knack for solving the types of puzzles that IQ tests present, and maybe because I was exposed to programming and algorithmic thinking at a very early age. I suspect if other people were exposed to similar problems as early as I was in their childhood, they too would be Mensa members. Still, I'm not wired like a smart person. I'm not that interested in academic subjects. I love to drink and I enjoy things like Beavis & Butthead a lot. :-D

When I took an Oxford IQ test around the age of 11 they classified me as much higher than average IQ. I'm not sure I'd be considered as high in my current age range though.

However I will say that IQ tests are biased and in my opinion, not accurate. An IQ test should try and narrow down where your strengths and weaknesses lie (different people have different parts of their brain working at different efficiencies since birth). It's not really fair to have foreign concepts as questions on them. If people haven't learned the concept, it becomes impossible to answer. They generally base IQ test questions on concepts that the majority of a certain age range has learned based on your specific age.

For that reason, I don't buy IQ test results.

I took a “legitimate” IQ test and scored 154... which is genius level. I don’t think I am a genius but I do think I am smart. I made it anonymous so it doesn’t seem like I’m bragging too much. A lot of the questions were problem solving and pattern recognition, which I am good at. I love logic puzzles and riddles, so I think I was primed for these tests. Which is why I think I scored so high and isn’t a real representation of my intelligence. Though again, I do believe I’m smart. I think one thing smart people recognize is their limitations and it’s interesting how some stupid people can have so much confidence. I am not intimidated my smart people I am intrigued and humbled by them. I know what I know and I don’t know much else.

IQ is rather pointless BUT I only ever use it to tease my little brother because both of us were tested. I scored 142 and he scored 141 and I still to this day dont let him live that 1 point down even though in the grand scheme of things it means absolutely nothing.

when I had mine tested, it was through WAIS-IV, but that was a couple years back. I was just 18 at the time. for performance IQ I scored about 127, and for verbal IQ just 107. this ended up lowering my full-scale IQ quite a bit, to just 117. I was categorized to have a "disharmonial intelligence profile" which simply means that my intelligence isn't properly spread an balanced like its supposed to be.

My IQ is 137. It was tested by a psychiatrist when I was 11 and I was also tested at school.

I’m not surprised because I always performed better in maths and science at school, and I pick up new languages extremely fast. I have always been a really fast learner and I started speaking in full sentences really young too - my mother says I was around 13-months-old (?) or maybe a little younger even.

I've been tested, and it is 140. My professors were unimpressed at the university were unimpressed (all of them had doctorates). The proctors during the Fundamentals of Engineering exam were equally unimpressed, as were those administering the Principles and Practice of Engineering Examination.

I took a test in high school and they said it was 123. I'm pretty sure it's much less by now. I've had chemotherapy which can affect IQ and I'm diabetic and that can also have an affect if blood sugar is off frequently. I'm probably closer to 115 or 110 by now. I know its harder for me to learn new things today than when I was in high school all those decades ago.

My IQ has consistently been between 145 and 150 since I first took a standardized IQ test in high school. I don't take IQ tests that seriously, but I do like having a quantitative number to measure how much more logical one person may be from another. Like a school test score basically, even though intelligence and logic is far deeper than IQ tests and there are several different types of intelligence, such as EQ (empathy) or physical intelligence.

I never took an actual IQ test, but I took the MAT to get into grad school & shortly afterwards I received an invite out of the blue to join Mensa, so that would mean that I scored "at or above the 98th percentile." I've always wondered how frequently they do that.

I once heard a young guy say his IQ was high for a 16 year old. I knew right then it couldn't have been very high or he would have known age is part of the Intelligence Quotient. A 16 year old with a 130 IQ is no more intelligent than a 70 year old with the same IQ, less actually because the older you are the more you have to know to maintain that number.

And to be honest I'm not satisfied with this level. I would actually want it to be lower and have a higher EQ.

Opposite to IQ, EQ can be actually developed but it's principles are making high IQ people harder to reach higher EQ levels
