Why is he so confusing?

So I met this guy at school. When I first met him I met him in the hallways because I was skipping class so he always told me to go to class. But at the same time he was flirting with me. A month later he started flirting with me even more for example when I came to school he would usually grab my hand and rub it, he would also want stuff that I had like cookies. I used to tell him that I already bite a cookie but he said didn’t matter. Later on he tried to choke me but I pushed his hand away in a nice way he asked me in a flirtatious way if he makes me nervous and I said I don’t get nervous. About a week ago he started acting differently. He would stop grabbing my hand and being flirtatious. But I’m so confused on why? We stop talking for 2 to 3 days but then we talked again. But it’s not the same as before. I just don’t get it why did he stop being the way he was before?

Could it be that he’s confused by his feelings for me? Could it be that she feels like it’s wrong? Could it be that he is not interested in me no more? Could it be that he’s jealous that I’m talking to other guys in school but I talk to them as friends nothing more?
What does it means when a guy ask a certain way and then changes out of no where. I would also like to add on that he used to bother me and school in a flirtatious way.

We still talk but not like before. Actually yesterday he grabbed my hand but for two seconds.
