am under very deep anesthesia like when I had hernia surgery.
It was like being dead. Absolutely no sense of existence. No dreaming. No awareness. NOTHING.

It was perfect!
Perfect because there's no pain - physical, mental, or emotional.

  That's good.
  And you didn't have this slightly disturbed sense that many people were just digging around in your body, poking and prodding? I know they're there, doing a job, but I don't like it.
  My husband just told me a story about a colleague who told of a person who married into their family, and was a mortician and was caught... you know. Not that this even occurred to me, honestly, but I'd much prefer not being unconscious.

  A man married into a family. Years later, that man, and the new family, found out that that guy's father did this. What a legacy to have, eh. Poor guy. (The son.)
  Anyway, this is going very dark...
  Point is, I do not like being under anaesthesia. And I felt like shit when I was finally woken up from it. One of the two times, they had a very difficult time waking me up. Same thing happened with my grandmother once. I was also very nauseated for hours after. The whole thing was anything but peaceful. I just about had a panic attack leading up to it, waiting, in the hospital bed, too.

  Just me being silly. In many cartoons (and live-action things, too, I suppose) the mad scientist's giant machine of doom is operated by pressing an ominous big red button (so as to make it visually distinctive from the myriad other buttons on the machine that surround it, when the hero and villain inevitably end up fighting over whether it'll be pressed). And in Ren and Stimpy, it was the form of the History Eraser Button, that, when pressed, removed all previous time.
