Why are most soap operas always about women forgiving men's BS?

I've noticed this in practically every single soap opera. The woman is always forgiving a man's BS. He can be either a total jerk, humiliate her, be a cheater, an abuser, etc and he's forgiven.

The only single time I've seen a man forgiving a woman's BS was right after he got revenge on her (because of his so called ''male ego, pride'' that couldn't let it go'') and did her worse. Obviously if you needed to get revenge to even the score and did worse that's not ''forgiving''.

Meanwhile the woman forgave without even doing a revenge on him and put up with so much BS, hardly any man could handle getting his ego hurt by said woman. Why are most soap about just women forgiving men's BS?

There is a lot of truth to this. If a guy humiliates a girl at school, he can work hard to win her back and bang, there is a 50% chance she'll forgive me.
Vice-versa and omg nope, he'll never forgive her for that humilation. If he does forgives her then it's mainly because he already did something back to her. He felt the need to compensate that for his so called ''male ego hurt''.

soap operas are often a reflection of reality. bad boys going after good girls expecting them to be good and good girls going after bad boys expecting them to be bad so when one of them does something bad, it is expected to happen from bad boys but not expected to happen from good girls.

men have been conditioned to believe women are perfect and flawless thus anything objectively bad they do i. e. cheating will be unforgiveable. on the other hand women have been conditioned to believe men are flawed and needing to be fixed thus anything objectively bad they do i. e. cheating will be seen as part of their character.

Because just like you a lot of women want to feel that "all men are wrong" and they want to feel like "they the women are in control and get to choose if they take him back". It's the exact fantasy that drives your entire psychology of this post. In reality, men can leave you anytime they want. You have no control. Most men are decent people and if you don't treat them with respect and work just as hard as they do, they will leave you.

Your final sentence is the one that makes sense. If you don't treat anyone right, they obviously have the rights to leave you. I just don't see the point of many women taking back cheaters or total jerks that disrespect them and their families whereas a man would ditch her quickly. She should have that same ''no tolerance towards trashy behavior'' attitude too.

It was probably true back then until the 90's but not sure if that works nowadays. An abuser would be in jail by now. Marital rape is punished by now. There have been an increasing number of women that are breaking up for much less. They aren't putting up with too much BS.

More people are nowadays breaking up from toxic relationships.

yeah they don't worry too much about their pride getting hurt nor ''omg I gotta get revenge against him, I gotta even the score, he'll pay for it'' thing.
Their higher level of empathy is also bad in a way, since they're allowing themselves to get treated badly. It's a bad message to the rest of us, about being forgiving without any consequences, letting him do whatever he wants.

Why care about something they barely have? it's one of the reasons that women tend to be poor leaders, realpolitik trope, vast majority of women are submissive, women tend to have higher level of empathy than men because men are made to be warriors, while women are made to nurture children. Women are delicate trope. I don't think that it's soap operas who make women like that, I believe that women are like that by nature, and it mostly women who like watching soap operas, not men.

Because soap operas are targeted to a female audience, and the "men's BS" feeds the sense of victimhood modern women have. It's no realistic, but it's what women want to see in their entertainment.

Woman makes fun of man. Man gets revenge and rapes on her honeymoon and she's still asking her rapist for forgiveness. Then in the end she ends up marrying him again. Yuck

@Vesuvius87 I agree that those type of plot lines are disgusting but I can tell you that this type of plot line has been going on since the 70's and 80's. In the US, any fan of Days or Our Lives or Young and the Restless could tell you they have been doing that exact same plot line for years and years regardless of who the writer is. They probably reason that most viewers get tired of the same plot lines - boy meets girl, they fall in love and get married, break up, get back together, one of them then likes someone else... you get my point. In addition, some of these writers think that some viewers would find such a plot line interesting (for whatever sick reason) and see an opportunity where the woman can change the evil man and turn him into a saint and they can find love.

It's interesting how just recently, I was seeing lots of several negative comments on youtube about that soap operas. Many viewers found nothing loving nor romantic about staying with an abuser and agreed that nowadays not only is that a toxic relationship but he would be in prison for martial rape. Even in my country (Peru), marital rape is already a crime since early 2000's. Several other countries (Mexico too) have gotten smart on that.
