And please spare me this @#$% about how women are secretly lesbians. I've heard guys who take that stance say things like I would never cuddle with male friends so girls do it because they're 'secretly lesbian'.

Yeah well you cuddle with your dog but that doesn't mean that you're into bestiality. If cuddling with friends of the same sex isn't your cup of tea, fine but don't say that someone who does is some kind of closeted homosexual.

Personally, I am not like this with my friends. I don’t treat my friends how I treat my partners. That doesn’t mean I don’t hug my friends, but you won’t see me in my friends bed cuddling with her. I can be simple minded and say that there’s a chance that there’s attraction beyond that (I know you didn’t want to hear it) but also maybe you are just comfortable enough with a friend to do such. I’ve never been this comfortable with my female friends to do this though

Women do not get their sexuality questioned as harshly as men do. Even if they do it’s not as insulting as it is for straight men to have their sexuality questioned.

Yes it’s 2023 now but still most straight guys want to be respected for being masculine. 2023 or not if they are assumed “gay” it’s still very deep insult. They (rightfully) think other men will lose respect for them and women will lose attraction towards them.

This is one of the reasons why straight men act more rigid around each other. Especially in certain cultures.

I’ve hugged my male friends before and mostly their bodies are harder. It’s def softer being cuddly with my female friends. So that’s part of it. Much rather shoot hoops with a guy than cuddle and watch a movie
